We hope you had a great time celebrating homecoming last week. Keep reading to see photos from this year's festivities! In this newsletter you'll find stories highlighting the exceptional work happening in our classrooms and throughout the TCHS community. There are plenty of academic, athletic and fine arts events occurring this fall so be sure to check your student's campus calendar as well as the The Colony High School calendar for events happening in your area.

Happy Homecoming!
We had a blast celebrating Homecoming with The Colony community. This year's theme was "Hollywood Through the Ages," and staff and students dressed up accordingly. The TCHS feeder pattern participated in various events throughout the week including a parade, pep rally and of course Friday's Homecoming game.

At a special-called board meeting on August 16, the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to include a Bond Election and a Voter Approval Tax Rate Ratification Election (VATRE) on the November 7 ballot. Visit LISDBond.com to learn more about the seven propositions included on the ballot.
The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 10, early voting runs from Oct. 23 through Nov. 3, and Election Day is Nov. 7. Find out what is included in the bond proposal for your campus using the links below:
TCHS Gets New Press Box Thanks to 2017 Bond
This football season, Cougar fans might notice the brand new press box in the TCHS Tommy Briggs stadium. This addition was made possible by voters in the 2017 Bond. Construction is also currently underway for TCHS' new Arena, which was also a part of the 2017 bond referendum.
Griffin MS Musicians Perform for The Colony First Responders
On Monday, Sept. 11, Griffin joined other LISD campuses in honoring our first responders through music. Griffin's band and orchestra played several patriotic tunes at The Colony Police Station for onlooking first responders and community members. SEE PHOTOS
Idina Menzel to Visit The Colony
Join Barnes & Noble at The Colony High School on Sept. 16 as we welcome Idina Menzel and acclaimed writer & teacher Cara Mentzel for a discussion and sing-a-long to celebrate PROUD MOUSE, a lyrical book about a proud sister learning to find her own way. For tickets and more information, click HERE.
Memorial ES Students Celebrate Kindness Week
Kindness Week is underway in LISD! Memorial Mavericks were "United in Kindness" with other students and staff throughout the district as they sported their red, white and blue attire. SEE PHOTOS
The Colony SRO's Attend Annual School Safety Conference
Over the summer, The Colony SROs attended TASRO’s (Texas Association of School Resource Officers) 10th Annual School Safety Conference in Corpus Christi. The conference covered training on campus safety related topics, child and adolescent development and psychology, mental health assistance and more. SEE MORE
Camey ES Staff Performs Carpool Karaoke
Ever wonder what teachers do on summer break? For Camey teachers, the answer is Carpool Karaoke! We are so grateful for our fun-loving Cobra staff. WATCH
Lakeview MS Librarian Receives LEF Grant
Lakeview MS librarian Ursula Lancric was one of many LISD educators from around the district who received a grant from the Lewisville Education Foundation earlier this fall. 65 teacher grants for a total of $103,570 were delivered to LISD staff thanks to LEF's network of local civic organizations, corporate partners, and community members. BB Owen ES Gets Visit from LISD STEM Wonder Wagon
Bobcats flexed their STEM powers when LISD's Wonder Waggon stopped by. The Wonder Wagon is an innovative learning experience designed to support STEM learning for elementary schools across LISD that do not currently have STEM learning on campus. SEE PHOTOS

- Cody Carpenter, TCHS | Coach Cody is an amazing coach and trainer who consistently goes the extra mile to help students by taking interests in our lives, goals, and our personal struggles. His passion for leading is infectious and creates a supportive and motivating environment for students to feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks.
- William Lisenby, Griffin MS | Mr. Lisenby is a wonderful special education teacher. He works well with all stakeholders at Griffin Middle School. He is a voice of reason. He is an advocate for children. He exceeds expectations every day.
