Welcome Back

Happy New Year! We are ready to dive into the new year and soon a new semester. Monday, January 27th marks the first day of the second semester. Schedule changes will take place before the semester begins on Thursday, January 23rd, Friday, January 24th and Monday, January 27th. No changes will take place after the 27th. Year long courses are not included in these changes. This is for semester courses only.

Upward Bound Recruitment

Upward Bound recruitment will take place on January 28th in foreign language classes for freshmen and sophomores. Upward Bound is a program to help eligible college bound students reach their post-secondary goals. There is an application process, with specific requirements. If your child has any interest, please contact us.

Juniors

This month, Mrs. Rosenbaum and Mrs. Sproule will present to all juniors on college and career preparation. PSAT and PreACT score reports will be handed back as well. College bound juniors are encouraged to sign up for a spring SAT and/or ACT as well as a fall 2020 SAT and/or ACT. Juniors will begin meeting with their counselors in the next couple of weeks to complete course requests for next year as well as begin discussions on their plans after they graduate. They are encouraged to check out the Career Cruising site as well as the Big Future Site before their junior meeting occurs.

Seniors-Spring CAP Registration

CAP registration will begin for spring semester classes this month. This includes French 102, Spanish 102, Physics 112 (all continuations of French 101, Spanish 101, and Physics 111). It is expected that bills will be mailed home in early March, with the bills due March 27th. Scholarships are available and have been made known to the students. Please encourage your child to see his/her counselor for the scholarship paperwork. Don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Rosenbaum or Mrs. Sproule with any questions.

Juniors-New Visions Medical

The CV-TEC New Visions Medical Program is designed as a career immersion program for high achieving seniors. New Vision students have the unique opportunity to receive a theoretical and practical introduction to their career field of choice. The application deadline is March 6, 2020. Please see attached application for more information. Application is for current juniors only and requires recommendations.

Juniors-New Visions Applied Engineering BRAND NEW NEXT YEAR!

A competitive, application based program for High School Seniors expressing an interest in a post-secondary educational experience in the Field of Engineering. This rigorous one-year exploratory program is for select college bound seniors planning to major in a field of study in Engineering and/or related fields. The academic curriculum is combined with practical, applied work experience as students engage in STEM concepts at the Institute of Advanced

Manufacturing (IAM) and clinical observations with business partners in the field. The program would incorporate dual enrollment in college and high school credit-bearing coursework with career exploration and Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences in Applied Engineering. Any students interested should see Mrs. Rosenbaum or Mrs. Sproule and we will make sure to get the application to him/her when it is available. Applications are due May 1st 2020.
