School Picture Day is Thursday, 8/22!
Students will receive picture day forms to bring home from their advisory teachers on Monday, 8/19. Please fill these forms out and send them back to indicate whether you want to order school pictures. Every student will have their picture taken on Thursday, 8/22, and we will print and distribute student IDs at that time. Students will need to carry or wear their IDs on a lanyard for school meals, entering events, checking out library books, and other privileges. The initial ID will be free for all students, but there will be a charge for replacement IDs.
Over 100 families attended Open House!
Thank you for a great turnout and a great time at our annual Open House this past week!
We enjoyed meeting families, talking about the learning that will be taking place this year across our classes, sharing information about our draft Unified Improvement Plan, and practicing opening lockers with you and your student!
Weekly Progress Reports & Grades
Beginning the week of 8/26, all teachers have been asked to enter at least 2 grades a week in each class (at least 1 in advisory classes). Teachers are asked to update their grade books weekly before Monday mornings. Athletics eligibility reports (see below) and weekly progress reports will be pulled every Monday to ensure accountability, high expectations, and high support for all. Parents/guardians, you can expect to receive a weekly printout of your student's grades each Monday or Tuesday from your student's advisory teacher. Please sign and return these weekly progress reports so we know your student is talking to you about their learning, grades, and progress.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students on track!

Breakfast After the Bell Nutrition Program
Since Jack Swigert Middle School has a 70% or greater population of students who are eligible for free or reduced price meals, the State of Colorado directs us to offer breakfast at no charge to students after the tardy bell. (Breakfast and lunch are always free of charge for all students.)
- For 15 minutes after the 8:35 am tardy bell, students arriving late (for any reason) will be allowed to enter the cafeteria, get breakfast, and sit to eat for up to 10 minutes before being issued a tardy pass to class. Breakfast will continue to be served until 8:50 am, and students arriving at 8:50 for breakfast can remain in the cafeteria until 9:00 am to finish eating their breakfast.
- Unexcused tardies will still be addressed through our progressive discipline matrix.
