Flynn Update

I hope this message finds you well and ready to experience everything October has to offer! As some of you may know, I’ve been stepping in while Dr. Chism is away on paternity leave.

October is one of the most fun and busy months of the year, and I can’t wait to dive into all the great things we have in store. From parent-teacher conferences (a great chance to catch up on your child's progress) to the always-popular book fair and, of course, Halloween festivities, there’s a lot to look forward to. And who can forget the arrival of cooler fall weather!

I’m looking forward to connecting with many of you more this month. Feel free to reach out with any questions or just to say hello.

There is a lot to cover, so please see below for important information.

Dates: 10/14 from 2:00 to 6:00pm

10/15 from 4:00-8:00 pm

Middle School Conferences (6-8)

Conference Dates and Times:

• Monday, October 14th: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Last names A-L)
• Tuesday, October 15th: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Last names M-Z)

Format:
Middle school conferences will be held in an open house format in the gym. All four middle school teachers will be available, and parents are welcome to meet with any of their child’s teachers. Conferences will be 10 minutes each, and parents will wait for their turn as teachers become available.

Assigned Days:

• Parents with last names A-L should attend on October 14th.
• Parents with last names M-Z should attend on October 15th.

If you are unable to attend on your assigned day, no worries! You are welcome to attend on the other day that works best for your schedule.

We are looking for uniform donations! Please bring in your gently used, and clean uniforms. You can donate or pick up any needed uniforms during parent teacher conferences.

Your feedback is essential to our school’s growth and success. Your input helps guide our decisions and improvements as we work together to create the best learning environment for your children.

We’re excited to announce a school-wide field trip to the Nature and Science Museum on November 12th! We would love for parents and guardians to volunteer to support us for this fun and educational experience. A form will be sent home in Friday Folders for those interested in volunteering. If selected to volunteer, you will be contacted with next steps.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Flynn! The book fair will be open October 14, 15, and 16. Students and families are welcome to stop by during school hours or during Parent-Teacher Conferences. This is a great opportunity to pick up some exciting new books and support our school!

Please consider volunteering to help at the Book Fair. The story starts with you!

While Flynn will not have school on Halloween, we’re still excited to celebrate this festive time with classroom parties on October 30th! Students are invited to bring costumes to change into just before their parties at the end of the day. Please send your child to school in their uniform and pack their costume for the celebration. More details will be shared by your child’s teacher soon.

As always, no face paint, face masks, or toy weapons will be allowed.
