Welcome Miranda Cummings to MCE
December 12, 2024
Dear Mayde Creek Elementary Parents, Guardians, and Staff,
I am thrilled and deeply honored to introduce myself as the new Principal of Mayde Creek Elementary. My name is Miranda Cummings, and I am eager to join the Alligator family and contribute to the remarkable legacy that makes our school such a special place. Together, we will celebrate our successes and work collaboratively to ensure that every student reaches their fullest potential in an environment that values excellence, tradition, and community.
Since earning my bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston, I have been privileged to dedicate my career to public education. I began my journey in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in 2000, teaching math, science, and language arts. I eventually moved to a leadership role of a math and science instructional coach while earning my master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. In 2008, I joined the Katy ISD family as an assistant principal at Stephens Elementary. I also served as an assistant principal at West Memorial Elementary and McElwain Elementary.
Each day, my goal is to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of our students, staff, and families. I am deeply committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels supported, valued, and inspired to thrive.
I look forward to partnering with all of you to continue the traditions and culture that make Mayde Creek Elementary exceptional. My door is always open, and I encourage you to share your ideas, insights, and aspirations as we work together to shape the future of our school.
With gratitude and excitement,
Miranda Cummings

YEARBOOKS ARE ON SALE! Get your family one today!
Front of School at 7am-7:30 AM
Parents- The front of the school is reserved and used as a drop off area from 7-7:30am. Parents are not allowed to park and sit unless they are in a VISITOR parking spot.
DROP OFF ONLY- KEEP CARS MOVING. DO NOT BLOCK the DROP OFF LANE from 7:00-7:30AM
TARDY Bell is at 7:50 am
Dear Parents,
We understand that many of you are finding it challenging to get your child to school by the 7:50 AM tardy bell. Today, we had 60 tardy students. To help prevent this issue, we recommend arriving at 7:30 AM when the doors open. We've noticed that many families tend to arrive close to 7:45 AM, causing congestion around MCE. This congestion can delay your child from entering the building on time, receiving a FREE breakfast, and beginning instruction promptly at 7:50 AM.
We also want to remind you about CLUB BUSY B, our on-campus, private before-and-after-school childcare service, which opens as early as 6:30 AM.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring your child arrives on time.

CAR RIDER UPDATES!
Car Rider Line updates
Parents: Parents are not allowed to make transportation changes after 2pm. Parents cannot pick up their kids early after 2:30. Parents who enter the building after 2:30 requesting to pick up their child from the car rider line will have to wait until 3:25pm.
Car rider line ends at 3:20 pm. IF you come after 3:20, you will be asked to come to the front office. Please bring in your tag. If you do not pick up your child by 3:25, you will be called immediately. Please make every effort to be on time and be respectful of others’ time. Staff hours are from 7:25-3:25 every day.
The car rider line is in place for the safety of our Gators and for traffic control. We appreciate your patience in understanding and using the car rider line.
Reminders-
1. You must have a school-issued Car Rider Tag hanging on your mirror, or it must be visible in your front window. Car Rider Tags are not visible if they are lying on the dashboard.
2. Pictures of Car Rider Tags will not be accepted.
3. If you do not have your Car Rider Tag, please go directly to the front office to pick up your child.
4. When you enter the car rider line, you will be directed to the left or right lane. You must stay in the lane you are directed to.
5. Please drive slowly at all times when moving through the line. PLEASE kindly don’t be on your cell phone while driving. We have had parents be distracted and almost get in wrecks!
6. Car rider dismissal ends at 3:20. If you arrive after this time, you will need to pick up your child in the front office. Bring the Tag into the school with you so that we can verify who you are.
7. IF you have misplaced or need an extra tag, please let the Front Office know.
Friendly reminder for our Kindergarten bus riders:
Kindergarten students MUST have a responsible adult or older sibling receive them at the bus stop at the END of the school day.
If an adult or older sibling is NOT present to receive the student, the bus will return the student back to Mayde Creek Elementary.
After students are returned to school, guardians are responsible for picking up their child. Thank you for your help with keeping our kindergarten gators safe.
MCE Arrival
Dear Mayde Creek Elementary Parents,
We would like to remind you that our arrival time for students is from 7:30 to 7:50 AM. If your child is a car rider, please ensure they are dropped off in the back of the school during this time.
Punctuality is crucial for your child's success. Arriving on time each day ensures that your child is ready to start their day on the right foot, participating fully in morning activities that set the tone for learning. We appreciate your support in fostering good habits by ensuring your child arrives at school on time every day.
If you arrive after 7:50 AM, you will need to park and escort your child to the front office to sign them in. Unfortunately, we can no longer allow students to exit vehicles unescorted after this time for their safety.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our Gators safe and ready to learn!

Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff of incoming 3-12 Grade Students,
We hope you have been enjoying the summer break. With only seven weeks left until the first day of school, we wanted to remind you about the exciting CLASS 1:1 Student to Device initiative that will launch this fall! Thanks to the community’s approval of the 2023 Bond program, every Katy ISD student in grades 3-12 will receive a Chromebook to use at home and on campus this school coming school year!
The CLASS 1:1 Student to Device initiative is all about connected and accessible learning, grounded in classroom instruction that is enhanced through technology-integrated learner experiences. Devices will be distributed in the fall, with more details about the Chromebook distribution for students in Grades 3-12 coming in late July.
In the meantime, you can find additional information about the CLASS 1:1 program, including background, policies, student use expectations, safety guidelines, and informational videos, on the CLASS 1:1 webpage.
