Principal Hayes Message
Happy February! đź’ź
This month brings with it a host of celebrations and opportunities to reflect, connect, and grow together as a school community.
February is Black History Month, a time to honor the invaluable contributions of African Americans throughout history and to celebrate the rich diversity that makes our school and community so special. It’s also Heart Month, a reminder to prioritize kindness, compassion, and health—values that resonate deeply in our school’s mission.
We’ll also celebrate Valentine’s Day, a day to spread love and gratitude among our students, staff, and families. And of course, Groundhog Day brought some excitement and curiosity as we await what the rest of winter holds for us!
Speaking of winter, we hope everyone enjoyed the monumental snowfall our area received. It was such a joy to see pictures of students and families embracing the snow day fun! We appreciate your understanding and flexibility during the remote learning days, and we’re thrilled to have our students back at school, ready to dive into the learning and growth that February brings.
Let’s make the most of this month and look forward to warmer days ahead. As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership in cultivating tomorrow’s leaders.
Warm regards,
Principal Hayes

CTE News
The 7th grade classes of Mrs. Harmon re-created the popular game of “Monopoly.” The students were given guidelines of the “Must Haves” to re-create the economics-themed board game. Students changed the game from buying and trading properties and developing them with houses and hotels, to buying and selling stocks listed on the NYSE (in the following categories: technology, transportation, health field and utilities.) Students were also asked to have stocks that pay dividends, add money to their Money Market, pay their Financial Advisor, put money in their Mutual Fund Account, pay a mortgage, make a car payment, pay weekly and monthly bills, cash their paychecks, add money to their debit card account and a variety of other debit and credit functions to perform as they made their way around the board. Students used the “Chance” and “Community Chest Cards” where money could be gained or lost. In groups, students used 3 separate “Monopoly” Games to play and to use as a tool for a Unit Review. The last rule I gave them was to “HAVE FUN.”
