Welcome from Dr. Vondran
As we wrap up another exciting trimester, we want to take a moment to celebrate all the hard work, growth, and achievements of our students. With the trimester ending, it's a great time to reflect on progress, set new goals, and embrace fresh opportunities. A brand-new trimester means a fresh start—new lessons to learn, challenges to tackle, and memories to make! Let’s keep up the great momentum and make this next chapter even better. There are a lot of wonderful things happening at CSMS for all students. Keep striving, keep learning, and let’s finish the school year strong!
Let’s make it a great week Tigers and Tiger Families.
Dr. Andrew Vondran
Welcoming Dr. Lilli Melamed, New Washington Principal
The District 75 School Board on Feb. 25 approved the hiring of Dr. Lilli Melamed to serve as the next principal at Washington Early Learning Center.
“I’m really excited about this opportunity,” Melamed said. “Mundelein is a wonderful community, and I am looking forward to serving the students, staff and families of Washington School.”
The new principal grew up in the Vernon Hills/ Mundelein area and has children attending school in the Fremont School District. She is currently principal at Oak Terrace, a dual language school in Highwood, where she developed a comprehensive plan with teacher leaders to support school improvement. Prior to that she was the assistant principal and Gifted and Talented Coordinator for Oak Grove School District 68.
Melamed earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from DePaul University in 2004. She has two Master’s Degrees, one in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University (2013) and another in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University Chicago (2008). Melamed earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Concordia University in 2024.

PTO Notes
- Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Dine Out Event at Jimanos last Tuesday. We appreciate all the support.
- This year we have currently fundraised $594.50 by families simply scanning their receipts and purchasing items with the Box Tops logo. Each month there are monthly challenges for everyone to opt into to earn extra Box Tops English / Espanol. Fun Fact, even if you did not purchase Box Tops items you can still scan your receipt to be entered to win additional Box Tops. As a reminder families simply need to download the app and either search for District 75 PTO Mundelein or enter code PNKN0SEQ.
Report Cards come home on Friday.
Our second trimester ended Friday, February 28th. Teachers are finalizing their grades and we are printing them off. Report Cards will be handed out to students on Friday, March 7th. Any questions, feel free to contact me.
CSMS presents Disney's High School Musical
Great work from the Cast and Crew of High School Musical. It was a wonderful performance. CSMS is proud of the hard work you've put in to the show. Well done.
Sports Update
- Congratulations to the 7th grade BVB team on ending Lake Bluff's undefeated season. The Tigers went on the road to take a 3 set victory last night and hand the Bobcats their first loss of the season. This earned the Tigers a share of first place in the conference. Great job tigers and good luck next week at the tournament.
- Congratulations also to the 8th grade BVB team in what was a fantastic display of volleyball by both teams last night as the Tigers had to go 3 sets to beat Lake Bluff! This gave the 8th graders 1st place out right in the regular season and brought their record to 9 and 0. Amazing regular season Tigers now bring home that trophy next week in the conference tournament!
