Avondale Bond Updates

Avondale School District is pleased to announce that the Board of Education has officially approved the first round of funding from the 2024 Bond. The initial issuance of $54 million, part of the total approved amount of $150 million, is scheduled for release in February 2025. Over the course of the bond, the district will receive three distributions of funds through bond sales, 2025, 2026 and 2028.

Next steps include collaborating with our financial advisors on due diligence calls, preparing and advertising bid documents, organizing project timelines based on needs of the district, investing and planning cash flow, and creating planning committees. These efforts will ensure that we are ready to begin implementing planned improvements.

Staff and families can expect to receive regular bond updates, which will include tentative timelines for projects and information about upcoming planning committees. Additionally, these updates will also be available on the district website at www.avondaleschools.org/bond.

We are excited to begin these long-awaited school improvements and are committed to engaging with our community to ensure that all feedback is considered throughout the process!

The Avondale Learning Center, new home to Avondale's Adult Transition Program and Services (ATPS- previously SKILL) and the Avondale RoboJackets opened for the 2024-25 school year. The building has been fully renovated and continues to be updated with help from the recently approved 2024 bond proposal.

Phase 1 of the project is nearing completion, with the installation of a privacy fence around the building entrance scheduled for this month. Phase 2 construction will begin in June 2025 and includes the renovation of a fully equipped PAES lab for ATPS students, along with an upgraded kitchen and cafeteria space. Phase 3, which focuses on the expansion of the Learning Center, is currently in the design phase. This phase will add a new Physical Education Center. Avondale invites our staff, students, families, and community members to actively participate in the planning and implementation of the approved bond projects. With the first round of funding now secured and projects entering the design and bidding stages, the district will be forming planning committees to collaboratively define the specific details and requirements for each project.

Please Note: Interested members will be contacted on a first come, first served basis. Committees will consist of district administrators, staff, and up to 10 committee members, including students, families, and community members. After committees have filled, we will share meeting dates and topics. Anyone will be able to provide feedback and comments for the committee to review during the meeting, via a Google form, which will be shared in upcoming bond communications.
