Davis Bilingual Magnet
March Newsletter
Dear Davis Families,
I hope this email finds you well. As we welcome the beautiful season of spring, we also embrace new beginnings, growth, and exciting opportunities for our students and community. The longer days and warmer weather bring a renewed sense of energy, and I'm excited to share both community and Davis events with you for the month ahead!
Davis Run – Wednesday, March 5th
Get ready for our annual Davis Run! On the day of the run, your child will have the opportunity to run or walk a lap (less than ¼ mile) in the front schoolyard. We will track each student's completed laps and update the Davis Run portal accordingly.100% of all funds raised will directly support our specialist programs and classroom teachers. This year, all pledges and donations will be submitted electronically through our fundraising link: Carrera de Davis 2025
You can pledge by searching for a student’s first or last name and choosing to donate per lap or as a flat amount. We encourage you to share the link with family and friends to maximize support!
Exciting Additions to This Year’s Run!
Fun surprises for the kids while they run!
Every student will receive a t-shirt—expect them to get a little colorful during the run!
Classroom Competition: The classrooms that raise the most donations will be rewarded with special prizes!
Also, join us for Literacy Night on March 18th in the Davis Cafeteria from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. Our teachers will be leading fun and engaging literacy projects to help you support your children at home. There will be food, music, and prizes, and we can't wait to see you there!
Included in this newsletter is also information about some wonderful community events. Be sure to check out the Tucson Festival of Books on March 15-16 at the University of Arizona! Visit the TUSD/Camp Cooper booth in Science City and participate in the social media contest to help Davis win a fun reading prop!
Another great opportunity for our families is Pueblo High School’s Spring Encuentro on March 19 from 3:30 – 7:00 PM. This celebration of literacy, music, food, and culture is a fantastic chance for our community to come together.
Lastly, Casa de los Niños is offering free parenting workshops in both English and Spanish, covering important topics such as communication, setting boundaries, and supporting adolescents. These valuable resources are available to all families, and we encourage you to take advantage of them.

- Daily Reading: Encourage your child to read for at least 20 minutes every evening to strengthen literacy skills and develop a love for reading.
- Utilize I-Ready and Imagine: Log in through CLEVER to access engaging activities that reinforce skills in both Literacy and Math.
- Skill Mastery Goals: Aim to master two skills per week in each subject to see significant growth and progress.
- Need Help with CLEVER? If you need support with logging into CLEVER from home, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher for assistance.
Your encouragement and support at home play a vital role in your child’s academic success. Thank you for being our partner in learning!

Tax Credit
Now through April 15th, 2025, you can take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax Credit to pay the income tax you owe directly to Davis Bilingual Magnet. In the state of Arizona, you get your tax credit contribution back subject to the limits of your tax liability.
What should I mark when I make my donation online?
We are especially grateful for donations marked “Undesignated,” as that allows us to put your donation towards a specialist position on our campus (P.E., Garden, Art, etc). Thank you for supporting us as we raise funds to keep these important positions.
What if I already made a payment for Extended Day?
Many of you made a payment for Extended Day. Kindly note that you may be able to take advantage of the federal Child and Dependent Care Credit, as Extended Day supports parents who pay for childcare so that they may work outside of the home. Please consult your tax professional for more details. This may allow you to make an additional contribution to Davis (in addition to Extended Day) and claim the Arizona tax credit, for up to $400, per the information above.
