Greetings again!
The first day of school is now truly upon us! It has been lovely to reconnect with several of you and your children over this past week and it is clear that many inches have been grown and many teeth lost over the summer!
New staff this year: Since I wrote last week, we have hired Shannon Minor, as a paraprofessional. We are very fortunate to have her join the staff. She will be helping in classrooms and on the playground, as well as serving as health designee when Dani (the new nurse) and Samantha are out. Being a licensed teacher, we’ll be able to call on her as a sub as well. She comes with many skills!
From the kitchen:
I would like to let you know that, again this year, all school meals served to youth (up to age 18) will be FREE. Adult meals are $5 each.
Here at Weybridge, breakfast will be available upon arrival in the classroom each morning and lunch will be served at 11:20. We do not sell food ala carte. Therefore, all meals continue to be complete meals, as per USDA guidelines.
Having students pre-ordering their meals each week allows me to plan, procure, prepare, and serve more efficiently. The link for ordering is included in the weekly school newsletter and on the school website. This form is updated each Friday and it has worked best when families complete it by 7:30 each Monday morning. It’s great if you can do this with your child.
I am looking forward to cooking more of our tasty and nutritious meals “in house” this year. I invite parents and community members to consider signing up to help with final preparation and meal service. It is a great way to help provide smooth and timely lunch service, as well as have an opportunity for positive interactions with our students. The kids love having other people that they care about be a part of their school day.
Please feel free to contact me if you have thoughts, questions or concerns, or to sign up to volunteer. - Barbara Palmer
Reminder - All students (K-5) need the following:
Sneakers - especially for P.E Tuesdays and Fridays
A complete change of clothes including socks and underwear (to be kept in their backpack) - various spills and muddy play are part of school life
Rain boots, rain pants and rain jackets
Snow boots, snow pants, winter coat, hat, mittens or gloves
We do have extra clothes on hand, but it is often much more comfortable for students to have their own gear/clothing and changing takes much less time.
Bus information and pickup: The bus routes are linked below in this newsletter and on the website. Stitch and Bobbie Jo will be our drivers again this fall. At pickup time, please wait for your children to check in with Samantha or Maggie before they come across to you. Our process helps to ensure everyone is accounted for and safe. Thank you.
Hope to see many of you Monday morning. Please join us in the library for coffee and conversation.
Best, Christina
Classrooms are ready: Just waiting for our students!
The link to the bus routes are below and on the ACSD website. Please be waiting at your stop 5 minutes before the approximate bus stop time. Younger students will need their parent at pick up and drop off.
