We're off to a great start!
We are wrapping up our first full month of learning for the 2023-24 school year. It has been wonderful to have all our students back on campus. Check out the photo gallery from the first week of school.
Back-to-School Festival!
The Back-to-School Fair and March for Gun Safety and Mental Health Awareness was a blast! The power of unity could be felt throughout the neighborhood during the march as students, staff, and community members marched for a safer future. A huge thank you to everyone who participated. This is just the beginning as we continue to work together for a brighter future. Check out the photo gallery 📸 of the festivities.
News Channel 5 stopped by and spent the day with FFSD to learn more about the District’s Back-to-School Festival held on Aug. 19.
Learn how the District is combating the stigma of mental health and sending the message of no weapons in our schools and community. Watch the coverage here.
Be Careful When Driving 🚦
School is in session, and you know what that means…SLOW DOWN. Please be mindful of additional traffic and school buses on the road. These are some great reminders from our friends at Florissant Police Department about being cautious on the roads.
- Always stop for flashing lights and extended stop arms.
- Keep an eye out for students crossing at bus stops.
- Be patient – never pass a stopped school bus.
Equity and Access For All
We are on year two of our new strategic plan, Equity and Access for All. FFSD's Strategic Plan is the District's five-year plan through 2027, rooted in the vision “for all learners to graduate believing that anything is possible and prepared to realize those possibilities.” Each year of the plan, specific and measurable action steps were developed by the Strategic Plan Steering Committee. The District will focus on six priority goal areas. Read more about the goal areas here. Progress on goal areas can be monitored through the District dashboard.
KMOV Visits McCluer High School
KMOV News 4 made a visit to McCluer to broadcast live for their Back-to-School feature. A huge thank you to our McCluer students, staff, and parents who woke up bright and early to arrive at 4 a.m. to showcase that Comet spirit on the big screen! ❤️💙

Be a HERO! Here. Everyday. Ready. On Time.
Attendance Matters! Student success starts with good attendance and is the responsibility of the student, family and school. School attendance is one of the most reliable predictors of student success. Students who attend school regularly have a better chance of building a strong foundation as they move from kindergarten to high school.
Did you know?
Chronic absence means your child has missed 10% or more of the school year for any reason to date. Missing just two days a month adds up to missing ten percent of the school year. When students are chronically absent, the risk of falling behind increases. Learn more here.
