Mid-January 2025 - Vol. 6 Issue 11
Dollenger Says....
Greetings,
We have only a few days until the start of the third marking period on January 31. It is important students continue to engage in their classes and submit their school work to be successful. Also, February 10 schools are closed for Professional Development and February 17 schools are closed due to the observance of Presidents' Day.
Congratulations to our cheerleaders who placed FIRST in the County!!! Our Advance Tech 3 created wooden gingerbread house kites, and helped Mrs. Bowman's students to build and decorate them. Also, our Career Coach, Ms. Douglas, is using VR glasses so students can test out different careers through simulations.
Lastly, please review the information in this newsletter as there are important dates, looking out for SAT scams, how to order a senior banner, submitting work for the student art show, and many other things happening at NEHS.
Thank you to everyone who is supporting our students and the NEHS Community!
~Mr. Dollenger

BBB Scam Alert: Watch out for SAT prep scams
For parents of high school students, SAT and ACT scores are a huge deal. With college admissions and scholarships on the line, paying for tutors and test prep materials may be worth the price. But watch out for con artists eager to take advantage of this. Scammers – with access to kids’ names and school information – are tricking parents into paying for bogus SAT and ACT prep materials.

Athletic Eligibility
Spring athletics begin on March 1, 2025. To be eligible students must have
- passed all 2nd marking period classes

- completed and submitted required athletic forms packet and emergency card found on the CCPS athletics page (these packets are also available in the main office)
Attention Class of 2025
Next week (Jan 27th), administrators and counselors will push into English 12 classes to remind the senior class as we enter into the last two marking periods of their high school careers. The PowerPoint we will share with the seniors will also be emailed to parents/guardians at the end of next week.
Also, on Friday, February 7th, any senior who has not secured their credit for classes needed for graduation AND has senior options in their schedule will meet with their administrator and counselor. To ensure your graduation from NEHS this June, you will be placed in a study seminar class and have your senior options pulled starting Monday, February 11th.
Donate to NEHS Plunge Maryland
North East High School has over 60 students united for our Plunge Maryland Cool Schools Plunge this year. We are so close to achieving or surpassing our team fundraising goal! All money donated to our team's page goes directly to Special Olympics Maryland to support student-athletes pursuing lifelong fitness. Click below to donate. The Plunge Maryland will take place on January 29th! We will post a live stream video of our students braving the cold water at Sandy Point State Park.
We are still accepting donations- however, all of our spots on our buses are full at this time.
Winter Sports Concession
The Action Club is in need of volunteers for the Concession Stand during the Winter Sports season. It’s super easy and the kids really appreciate it!! Sign Up below! Reach out if you have any questions! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4BADA823A6F8C25-53461518-winter#/
General Athletic Information
If you are planning on coming to support our student athletes please know that all events in the gymnasium will be charged admission.
NEHS is still experiencing problems with the implementation of credit and debit cards electronically at sporting events for admission. The poor cell service has made consistent and efficient use problematic. Please continue to be prepared to pay cash just in case this service is not working on any particular game day.
We do not allow backpacks, pets, or outside food (when we offer concessions). Any student under high school age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. In addition, once you leave the event, you may not return. There is no smoking or vaping anywhere on school property regardless of age.
No Outside Food Deliveries During the School Day
Please refrain from having food/beverages delivered or dropped off to students during the school day. Deliveries will be turned away. We thank you in advance for your assistance in reducing the amount of disruptions to school operations.
Bus Notes
As a reminder, a request to ride a different bus home or to school is reserved for emergencies and will need approval of administration. If you are requesting permission for your child to ride another bus, please follow the steps below:
· A written note from both parents indicating the reason for the request
· Please include your phone number on the note
· Notes must be received by noon on the day of the request
· Phone calls cannot be accepted

Grades and Zeroes: NEHS ZAP! (Zeroes are not Permitted)
Parents and Students,
You will receive bi-weekly emails alerting you that your student has missing assignments, which are zeroes in the grade book. With things being so busy for so many people, this is a reminder for students and parents to check grades and turn in work. This email is useful to prompt conversations between students and their support systems to open up PowerSchool and look at their current grades. If you have questions about specific zeroes, assignments, how your student is doing in class, or why they have zeroes, then it is best to reach out to the student's teacher to get an idea of what's happening. These emails will come out to all students with zeroes every two weeks, so get on it and get those assignments turned in.
If you can't access PowerSchool to see your student's account and grades, please contact your student's guidance counselor to get the necessary information.
Attendance + Turning in all assignments = Success!
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Ms. Pucci, Assistant Principal

Hello North East Families!
We are the Action Club, an organization very similar to the PTA/PTO from the elementary and middle schools. Anyone may join our club (free of charge), but we are primarily a group of parents who work together to do all that we can to support and enhance the experiences for the students, staff, and local community of North East High School (NEHS). We are here to promote NEHS’s curricular and extra-curricular support for school-wide activities in an effort to improve school spirit, provide enrichment, and develop positive student, teacher, parent, administrative, and community relationships.
