A Message From Your Principal
Greetings, Eames Way Families!
What an exciting week! Our students have been very busy preparing for their various end-of-year performances and learning celebrations (1st Grade's "Authors' Tea", 2nd Grade's "Charlotte's Web" Production, and 3rd Grade's Poetry Festival). Thanks to our fabulous EWS PTO, our first graders enjoyed their field trip to the Blake Planetarium and second graders had perfect weather for visiting the Roger Williams Zoo!
Our fifth graders were immersed in some fascinating learning stations where they explored the science of watersheds! Thank you to the North and South Rivers Watershed Association for providing this environmental education opportunity to our students. Special thank you to our family volunteers who facilitated the different program stations, as well as the wonderful chaperones who joined our teachers and students for this week's "Off-Campus" adventures!
We look forward to more fun and joy in next week's events and hope that everyone has a fantastic weekend.
With Best Wishes,
Ms. Bishop, Principal

Seasonal allergies (hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis):
Occur when outdoor molds release their spores or trees, grasses and weeds release tiny pollen particles into the air
Usually develop by 10 years of age
The immune system releases histamine into the bloodstream to defend against these allergens and the release of these chemicals are what causes the symptoms
Treatment of allergies: No real cure for seasonal allergies, but it is possible to relieve symptoms
Reducing or eliminating exposure to allergens- keep windows closed, use air conditioning if possible and change your air filter often
Remove shoes at the door to avoid tracking allergens to the rest of the house
Wash hands and face after being outside and try to avoid touching your face
Rinse off in the shower or tub before bed
Change pillow cases often during allergy season
If reducing exposure to allergens isn’t possible or is ineffective reach out to your primary care provider about available medication options(non-drowsy antihistamines, nasal sprays and eye drops)
Reminders as the weather changes
Hydration: Please be sure your child brings a water bottle to school each day-preferably one that is easily refillable at our refill stations.
Snacks: Please remember to send in a healthy snack for your child everyday.
Clothing: Have children dress in layers-the building can become quite warm, and children can overheat very easily.
Sun safety: Sunscreen must be applied at home before coming to school.
Tick safety: There has been an increase in the prevalence of ticks. Parents should frequently check their children for ticks, especially around the ankles, legs, and head region after coming inside from any outdoor activities.
Attention fifth grade parents
Postural screening(“scoliosis screening”) will be taking place during Physical Education class on 5/9/24. The Department of Public Health guidelines mandate that students in grades 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are screened annually for scoliosis. A letter was sent out in backpacks today to 5th grade parents. If you would like your child to opt out of this screening, please send the opt out portion of the letter back to school or send an email to Nurse White at awhite@mpsd.org.
Attention fourth grade parents
Letters were sent out to all fourth grade parents and guardians if an updated physical exam is still needed. You can send the updated physical form in your child’s backpack, email it to Nurse White at awhite@mpsd.org, or ask the pediatrician to fax the most recent physical to 339-244-2475. Thank you!
