A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
There are a few events going on this week that we want to make sure everyone knows about:
1. Our next PTP meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 in the RVES Multi-Purpose room. All Riverview parents are invited to attend. It is a great opportunity to stay engaged with your child's education, play a role in creating a strong partnership between our school and community, and meet some great people. I hope you consider attending!
2. Our 5th graders will be holding their annual Band Demo Concert on Thursday, Dec. 12 so that families can see the amazing progress they have made learning to play their instruments. It will take place in the RVES Cafetorium from 6:30-7:30. All parents/families of band members are invited to attend.
3. This Friday, Dec. 13 will be the 2nd Family Bowling Night at Farmington Lanes. The first event was a great success and the families that attended had so much fun! You can click this link to reserve a lane in either the early session (4:30-5:30) or late session (6:00-7:00). The cost is $10 per bowler and part of the money gets donated back to our school. Hope to see you at the lanes!
Thank you for your partnership. Best wishes for a great week!
Shawn Peck

Also, mark your calendars! On January 15, 2025 - parents/special grown-ups of next year's kindergarten learners, please join us at 6:00 PM in the Farmington High School Recital Hall for our Kindergarten Information Night. At our Kindergarten Information Night, we’ll share things you will need to know about this important next step, including an overview of Kindergarten in ISD 192, what kindergarten readiness looks like, how to enroll, early childhood screening, immunization requirements, and future Kindergarten events and how we will stay connected with you between now and the first day of school to ensure a smooth start.
Age Requirement:
- Students must turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025, to meet the age requirements for kindergarten enrollment for the 2025-26 school year.
Preparing for Registration:
- To ensure a smooth enrollment process, please start gathering the following documents and information ahead of time:
- Proof of age document (birth certificate, hospital record, or passport).
- Copy of immunization records.
- Names and phone numbers for three emergency contacts.
- If your name does not appear on the birth certificate, provide court or other legal documents showing your legal status to enroll the child (e.g., custody documents, Delegation of Parental Authority, or a letter from the county authorizing enrollment).
- You will be able to upload documents with your online application. If you cannot upload them or do not yet have the required documents, you may still complete your application. However, your child will not be able to attend school until all required documents are received.
We’re Here to Help:
- In the coming weeks we will be sharing additional information. We are so glad you’ve chosen Farmington Area Public Schools, and we look forward to welcoming your kindergartner to our community of learners! The Farmington PD Seeks Toy Donations For Annual "Toys For Town" Toy Drive
The Farmington Police Department is continuing the tradition of the Toys for Town program with their 37th annual toy drive this year. Toys for Town is an annual toy drive organized by the Farmington Police Department to help make the holiday season special for children in our community. The program provides local families with a holiday meal kit and gifts for their children. In 2023, there were 450 children from 140 families that benefitted from this program. The police department is anticipating similar numbers in 2024.
This year, the Farmington Police Department is setting an ambitious fundraising goal of $35,000. This goal allows for purchasing of food for the families, gift cards for the teens and various supplies needed for wrapping day. Along with the fundraising goal, collection bins for unwrapped toy donations have been set out at area businesses and city buildings (including Riverview Elementary!). Collections will continue through Monday, Dec. 9. In addition, monetary donations to the Toys for Town program will be accepted at the police department. Stop by during lobby hours Monday – Friday from 8 am to 4 pm to make a monetary donation.
Wrapping Day is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14 starting at 9 am at Farmington High School, 20655 Flagstaff Ave. Just show up at 9 am ready to wrap! For more information about Toys for Town or to make a request call contact the Police Department at 651-280-6TOY (6869) or email Toys4Town@FarmingtonMN.gov. Request calls will be taken Monday, Nov. 4 through Monday, Dec. 9. For toy collection locations check the website at FarmingtonMN.gov/CET.
Donation Requests From Ms. Asher Carlson
Thank you to the many families who donated items for our Balloons Over Riverview parade. As we get further into the holiday season, if anyone has empty wrapping paper tubes or ribbon rolls, please consider dropping them off at the Riverview main office. No cardboard boxes are needed at this time.
Winter Break Will Be From December 23 - Jan 3.
There will be no school from Dec. 23-Jan. 3 due to winter break. The main office will be closed during these two weeks.

We Need Your Help! We Are In Need of More Paraprofessional Substitutes
Our paraprofessionals are a vital part of our team and they do so much every day for our students. Like everyone, they have to miss work from time to time due to illness, family matters, etc. When that happens, it leaves our learners with less support. And unfortunately, often times these absences go "unfilled" due to a shortage of capable and willing subs. That is why we are asking for people in our Riverview community to consider being a para sub. The pay is $15 per hour and you can work as much (or as little) as you want. Whether you sub one day or every day, each time you enter a classroom, you are responsible for the helping the most important resource we have in our school -- our children.
If you would like to sign up to sub as a teacher or paraprofessional for the Farmington Schools you will have to apply through Teachers on Call (TOC). Please email or call TOC directly at 1800-713-4439 or apply online at teachersoncall.com.
Keep On Reading Every Night at Home! It Makes a HUGE Difference!
