This week Red Lion’s Bocce team traveled to Dover for York County playoffs. The team showed grit and determination all season long and should be very proud of their accomplishments! Your Unified Lions ended up placing 6th in the county.

Mrs. Lintz and Mrs. Stuth are extremely proud of both Bocce teams. We wish our seniors Adam Bernhardt and Madisyn Burchett the very best, as we will all miss them so much on the Bocce court and off!

Also a huge thanks to Mrs. Kelly Gurreri and Mrs. Helt for being our Bocce helpers all season long!

Cody Dahr placed 3rd, Isabella Johnson placed 4th and Alys Leader placed 5th in the Jr Prepared Speech contest. They had to write and present a 3-5 minute speech on any agricultural related topic. Cody will advance to the Area Contest on March 20th.

Shianna Myers placed 4th with her Sr Prepared Speech that was 5-8 minutes.

Both Isabella and Shianna are alternates and will advance if needed.

All participants competed in the FFA Knowledge Contest. In the Senior Division Hailey McCarty was 2nd, Shianna Myers was 4th and Brooke Smeltzer was 6th. In the Junior Division Alys Leader was 1st, Isabella Johnson was 2nd and Cody Dahr was 3rd.

Red Lion will host SAT testing on the morning of March 8, 2025, visit sat.org/register to sign up. The registration deadline is February 21st. Contact the counseling department if you have any questions!

In her short time at Red Lion, Mrs. Hess has already made a significant impact. Contributing to two departments, she teaches Introduction to Art for the Art Department as well as Textiles, Interior Design, and Fashion Art. Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Hess worked in the fashion industry. Bringing her expertise and passion into the classroom, she has already developed new courses and enriched the curriculum with real-life skills. Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Hess serves as the Executive Council Advisor for the Class of 2026 and is currently designing over 75 costumes for the musical—a tremendous undertaking that showcases her talent and dedication. We are grateful to have her as part of the Red Lion family!

The Lion Locker is open Semester 2 during periods 4, 5, 6, and 7. If you need the Lion Locker outside those periods, see the Main Office or Counseling Department.

New this season, we will no longer be accepting paper copies of physical paperwork. ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE HANDED IN ON RANKONE. This is for many reasons, the most important being that we can have virtual access to physicals at all times in the case of an emergency. Additionally, this will help us immensely with our administrative load.

Please have students either contact their coach or email us at ATstaff@rlasd.net if they are having troubles uploading. Please do not forward them my email address.

SPRING 2025 IMPORTANT DATES TO KNOW:

· January 20, 2025: First day that recerts can be submitted online in RankOne.

· February 17, 2025: Physicals and recerts DUE in RankOne.

· March 3, 2025: Tryouts start date

Attention Parents, Guardians and Students: We are continuing to monitor data to determine which students are in good standing and those that are not. If a student is not in good standing their privileges to the cafe will be revoked for one week. Grade and attendance reports are generated on Thursday mornings at 9am. Students and guardians will receive notification Thursday afternoon by email to notify them if they able to visit our wonderful cafe. Participation in the end of the marking period reward and other events can be determined by a student's good standing status. Please reach out to your assistant principal if you have any questions or concerns.

Criteria used to determine good standing:
1. Students must maintain passing grades (60% or higher for the marking period grade). Students are allowed to have one course grade lower than 60%.
2. Students must have 9 or fewer unexcused absences in the past two months.
3. Students must adhere to the student code of conduct as explained in the Student Handbook. Repeated or multiple minor infractions or serious violations result in being removed from good standing.

Attention Seniors!! The Red Lion Area Educational Foundation (RLAEF) Scholarship is now on Naviance. If you have any questions or need the application printed, please stop by the counseling office and see Mrs. Hill.

Make sure to check Naviance for other local and national scholarships!!

Attention 10th, 11th and 12th graders... please check Naviance for upcoming college visits. We have a few colleges coming to our school to meet with interested students. We have Harrisburg University of Science and Technology coming on Tuesday, February 25th, at 9:30am and Shippensburg University coming Thursday, April 10th, at 12pm. If you are interested please go to Naviance to sign up for the college visits. You must be passing all of your classes in order to attend a college visit. If you have any questions or need help signing up, please stop by the Counseling Office and see Mrs. Hill.
