Our Brick Foundation is Well Underway!
Some Highlights from the Start of School!
ECC at #4 School
Our Young Minds learning about Fire Safety and taking Precautions on Safety Day at Early Childhood Center! The students of Lawrence Kindergarten had the privilege of welcoming the Inwood Fire Department for a Fire Safety Day celebration. This event coincided with Fire Prevention Week, which spanned from October 6th to October 12th.π₯π§―ππ§π»βπ
Throughout the week, the kindergarteners dedicated time each day to learn new aspects of fire safety. On Monday, they explored the ABCs of Fire Safety with the help of Sparky the Fire Dog. Tuesday the children created their own fire hats and learned about the importance of safety gear.
The highlight of the week was on Wednesday, when firefighters and paramedics visited the school. The children had the opportunity to examine the various tools and equipment on the fire trucks and ambulance, as well as learn about the protective gear used by these first responders. This hands-on experience was both educational and exciting for the students.
To wrap up the week, the children read books about fire safety on Thursday and wore the color red on Friday, demonstrating their enthusiasm for the topic.
The kindergarten students thoroughly enjoyed the visit from the Inwood Fire Department and the engaging activities that accompanied Fire Prevention Week. π₯π
We always enjoy seeing and encouraging our students to get excited and get involved in hands-on activities through fun and engaging educational ways of learning! The only way to truly do that is to make sure our students are attending school everyday, feeling healthy and energized! We love to see our young learners ready and willing to learn!
Lawrence Primary #2 School
We received an exciting visit from our Dedicated Nassau County Police Officers who taught our young learners Important Safety Tips and Tricks about Bus Safety & Stranger Danger. This was very valuable to our bright minds as it gives a sense of security, awareness and who they can go to in time of need. This visit gave our students an understanding through education and well-being.
Fun hands-on interactions took place such as quizzing our bright minds on the Safety Topics they were taught, asked questions to our friendly Nassau County Police Officers and gave the students scenarios to use their knowledge to help understand how to handle certain situations.
The importance of attending school is not just for test taking and learning school related subjects! It is so much more than that! It is about our students learning more about themselves, having them use their creative mindset to explore and build up their friendships, self-esteem and expand their horizons to be open to learning even more by having exciting visitors attending our Lawrence Schools events!
LES
Mrs. Palermo's class and Ms. Mena's class celebrating Hispanic Heritage Week! Learning about the differences and similarities of the Hispanic Language and culture to embrace the creativity of our young learners.
LMS
Lawrence Middle School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by creating a vibrant music playlist featuring Hispanic artists during lunch, while students added pins to a world map to represent their family's heritage.
Additionally, 8th-grade students and faculty took part in RICH Reflection Day, a powerful event aimed at empowering students to boost their self-esteem, transform negative peer pressure into positive peer support, and eliminate the culture of teasing and bullying.
Our 8th-grade students also took a Field Trip to Ellis Island and learned about the Immigrants and the traveling efforts that took place to receive the Freedom given in the USA.
LHS
Lawrence High School Students attended a field trip to the Mineola Supreme Court House to learn and observe about what takes place in the Supreme Court Offices. The students received the opportunity to sit in on a Malpractice Law Case in the Court room. That's a great experience for Mr. Frier and Mr. Walker's students! Visiting the Mineola Supreme Court is a fantastic way to learn about the legal system and explore potential career paths.
We encourage and require all our Lawrence students to become active in the intent of the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness, which is to encourage the study of civics and civility through experiential learning; certify attainment of civic readiness; provide employers with a method of identifying high school graduates with skills in civics and civility; provide universities with an additional method to recognize applicants seeking admission; prepare students with twenty-first century skills; recognize the value of K-12 Social Studies education in schools as a means to build civic knowledge; empower students as agents of positive social change to redress historical and contemporary oppression and strengthen our diverse democracy. The NYS Seal of Civic Readiness shall be awarded to students who meet the criteria of this subdivision and complete all criteria prescribed by the Commissioner at a New York State high school approved by the commissioner to offer the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness.
Overall, our goal is to have our Lawrence students par take in doing good not just for the community but in helping others and themselves. Feeling valued and being appreciated for their acts of kindness and assisting others! By giving our students the requirement to take part in completing 5 hours of required Civic Readiness to be able to graduate, whether it is community service or helping staff and students it is not only just to fulfill a requirement, but to understand the importance on how actions, efforts and generosity can still help in todays world.
We would like to acknowledge a "Great job to Kimberly and Julien! Their volunteerism at The Rock Hall Fall Festival is a wonderful example of the positive impact LHS students can have on their community." They were very helpful and hands on at the fun and exciting community event that previously took place. The Rock Hall was extremely grateful for our many students who went above and beyond to help at the wonderful Fall event!
