Seniors who have taken 3 PLTW classes and received an A or B with Excellent Citizenship are candidates for the PLTW Award. Please drop your transcripts off in room 506 to be considered- this is not a participation or automatic award.

Academy of Law will be holding their annual Academy Awards at start of period 4 today in the theater. Scholarships from $150 to $2,750, certificates, special recognition, slide show, video and more.

Seniors will need to complete this survey (in addition to meeting the other requirements) to pick up their caps and gowns.

If you are going to Community College, it is not too late to complete this and still get the Promise scholarship to qualify for 2 years of Free Tuition.

It can be used for those wanting to pursue job training or a certificate program or to earn a degree and transfer to a University.

EIS is looking for high school volunteers who want to hone their communication skills, develop leadership skills, and support STEM education opportunities for communities who are most underrepresented in STEM.

Teen Lab Assistants will be expected to volunteer from June 20 until August 11. There will be at least one day of orientation and training prior to the beginning of camp. Teen Lab Assistants will be assigned to a minimum of 2 weeks of Summer Camp, Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm (weeks must be consecutive). Teen Lab Assistants will have frequent contact with students and instructors. Teen Lab Assistants will meaningfully aid our work to improve summer camp learning and fun experiences for children in ages 7-14.

EIS is located in southeast San Diego, across the street from the Euclid Avenue Trolley station at Euclid Avenue and Market Street.

Qualifications:

• Must be a high school student entering 11th or 12th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. Students entering 10th grade for the 2023-2024 school year may be eligible only if they have previously participated in an EIS program.
• Express an interest in a STEM and/or education field
• Excellent writing, organizational, research and oral communication skills
• Interest and/or experience in working with children or youth
• Professional demeanor and work ethic
• Time commitment: Minimum of 2 weeks of Summer Camp, Monday through Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm (weeks must be consecutive)
• Strong calling to support underrepresented communities in STEM through education
• Fluency in Spanish or other second language is a plus but not required
• Must provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
• Applications are due Sunday, June 4th at 11:59pm

Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)

EOPS is here to make sure students disadvantaged by social, economic, educational, or linguistic barriers get the resources they need to enroll and succeed at any California community college. How? By offering a plethora of academic and support counseling, financial aid, and a bevy of other services aimed at keeping students from dropping out and helping them reach their educational and career goals. Our application period is currently open to any and all students who may be interested in applying to Grossmont College.

Grossmont College Summer Institute Program

The Summer Institute is designed to support EOPS-eligible, first-year college students transitioning into Grossmont College. We will provide advising & students can expect to get a jump start on their college careers. This program runs from June 12th - July 20th and will automatically qualify most if not all students to the Grossmont College EOPS Program. Currently, our Summer Institute Program is accepting no more than 60 students during the Summer 2023 session, and we wanted to reach out to provide this opportunity to share this information in the event that some students may benefit from our programs. A couple of ways that we assist with preparing students for college through our Summer Insitute program are:

• Bus passes/gas cards to assist with making it to/from campus during S.I.
• Free lunch during S.I.
• University trips during Summer 2023
• Academic counseling

Good afternoon students, we would like to invite and encourage 9th-11th graders to take an online UCSD course this summer that has been designed through a partnership with San Diego Unified School District and the University of California San Diego. This partnership, Discover UC San Diego, is designed for students to have exposure and coursework in a variety of subject areas. The UCSD courses selected for this summer offerings fulfill high school elective credit while earning UCSD college credit.

The college courses will be offered online June 20th-August 25th. Courses will be offered asynchronously (no set meeting times).

The courses are UC/CSU transferrable courses and students will earn 4 quarter units at UCSD and 2 weighted SDUSD units.

SD City college start of registration for eligible high school students:

• Summer 2023 - enrollment starts April 24, 2023
• See your counselor for steps to enroll
• Courses will be added on the high school transcript as PASS/NO PASS with an official copy of the college transcript submitted to Crawford registrar

Starting May 1, anyone aged 24 and under can ride transit for free as part of the SANDAG Youth Opportunity Pass pilot program. Get your Youth PRONTO app account or card to get unlimited rides on the bus, Trolley, COASTER, and SPRINTER through June 30, 2024.
