MAY HUSKIE HOWL
NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
As we gear up for Staff Appreciation Week from May 6th to May 10th, we're excited to highlight the phenomenal work of our dedicated teachers and staff members who go above and beyond every day to support our students' growth and success.
This year, we're inviting our school community and families to join us in showing our gratitude by participating in a special initiative: writing notes of thanks to our exceptional teachers and staff. A simple note of appreciation can go a long way in acknowledging their hard work, dedication, and the positive impact they have on our children's lives.
Whether it's a heartfelt thank-you for their endless encouragement, a note highlighting a memorable moment in the classroom, or a message of appreciation for their unwavering support, every gesture will surely brighten their day and remind them why they chose this profession.
Let's come together as a community to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for our amazing teachers and staff members. Together, we can make this Staff Appreciation Week truly special and unforgettable!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in celebrating the incredible individuals who make our school a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Happy Healthy Kids Tip
To prevent the “summer slide” and keep students learning this summer, enroll them in a summer reading program at your local library! They can work towards a summer reading goal and earn prizes as they go!
Summer Fun
The end of the school year is in sight! This can be a stressful time for some families as students will now be at home or need a place to go while parents are working. Plan simple activities after work to spend time together, things like picnics or walks around the neighborhood. Watch for information on the summer lunch program.
Have a great summer!

Student Handbook
Student Handbook
*if you prefer a hard copy, we have copies in the office.
*Si prefiere una copia impresa, venga a la oficina para obtener una.
Attendance
We want your student at school! Attendance is so important to learning. A student who misses a single day loses 20% of the learning from that week.
Here are a few things to remember:
*Call the office or email sbeattendance@isd221.net to excuse your child if they are absent for any reason.
*If your child goes to the doctor, please ask for a note and submit it to the school. A doctor’s note will exempt an absence.
*We appreciate you calling the school and letting us know when your child is sick. While we mark the absence as excused, it is NOT exempt. These absences still count as absences. School attendance is vitally important to your child’s learning. We want your child to have all the tools needed to succeed.
Transportation Changes
- Please call in Transportation Changes to the office @ 208-365-0877 by 2:50 pm / Fridays 1:45 pm.
- If you need to check out your child during recess, we kindly request that you wait until the recess concludes or arrive before recess. This supports the safety of all students, as our duty staff can then focus on their designated supervision areas without any distractions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
Parent Portal
Sign up Today for the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. A Parent Portal Account will give you access to pay for Lunches Online, view Student Attendance, view Student Grades (4th and 5th Grades), and receive School Correspondence. Call the School Office to be signed up and you will receive your User Name and Password to get started then you can download and use the mobile app.
Parent Pick Up Procedure
When pulling up in the pick up line DO NOT exit the car, if your student needs extra help, park in the lot closest to the school. This is safest method for all students and keeps the traffic flowing and from gathering on Idaho Blvd.
We ask that parents not park in the staff parking that is located on the corner of Idaho and Mesa so students and parents are not crossing traffic and in between moving cars.
Thanks again for helping us keep our students safe!

PENNY WARS ENDS APRIL 30TH
Penny Wars is coming to an end soon!
How it Works:
- Penny Wars is a competition between all the grades through a change drive (proceeds go back to the SB PTO). Labeled jugs will be in the foyer of the school labeled by the class grades.
- Each penny is worth 1 point. Students can also add dollar bills to increase the points.
- Silver coins are worth negative points according to their value. These are put in the jars of other classes with the goal of neutralizing the points they gained from their pennies, i.e., quarter = -25 points.
- During the war and at the end, the PTO adds up how many pennies are in each jar and then subtracts the value of silver coins in the same jar.
The class with the highest total points, after the silver coins have been subtracted, is deemed the winner. The winning class will get an ice cream party.
DUTCH BROS FUNDRAISER ENDS MAY 10TH!
Shadow Butte students can sell Dutch Bros gift cards to celebrate this new business in town!
