Bordeaux Elementary School
November 17, 2024
Dear Families,
We’re barreling right through November. This past week brought the rain and windy weather and it looks like more of the same between now and Thanksgiving Break. As we near the holidays, please remember that everyone here at Bordeaux cares about you and your family. If you are struggling with resources, including coats and cold weather gear, please don’t hesitate to reach out to see if we can provide some assistance. We consider our Bordeaux community as an extension of our Bordeaux family.
A reminder our monthly PTSO Board meeting will be held this Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 5:00-6:00 PM in the school library. We will be providing a Spanish Interpreter at the meeting.
This is our last week of the Annual Bordeaux Elementary Food Drive. Please donate any dry/canned items at the table across from our office. If you are interested in receiving a food bag, please contact Mr. Wirzbicki, our school counselor, or Wendy Lankelis, our Family Liaison.
We have reached another milestone this year with our Bulldog Tickets and BIG PAWS. Remember that tickets are individually earned for students demonstrating safe, respectful, and responsible behavior and Big Paws are earned as a class. At this time we have collected 4,198 Tickets and 834 BIG PAWS! Our 4th grade Leadership Team has decided to celebrate our achievement with Sports Day on Nov. 27th. On that day, students can wear anything sports related to show their school spirit. Way to go Bulldogs! Bonus points for any student sporting WSU Cougar gear.
Please check with your students that they are bringing their book bags back and forth from school to home. We are encouraging students to read at least 20 minutes a night at home. This can be independent reading, reading out loud to someone, or being read to. All students should have a book bag with high quality Just Right books coming home each night. Often there are other reading tools, such as decodable books and High Frequency Words to study. In partnership with you, we are creating a highly literate group of young humans.
Each grade level 1st through 4th has volleyball this week for those students who signed up. Monday is 1st grade, followed by 2nd, 3rd, and 4th on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
It’s a full week this week and as always, it’s a great week to be a Bordeaux Bulldog!
