Fargo Public Schools announces the assignment of Tera Sistad as principal of Early Childhood Special Education. She will assume the position for the 2025-26 school year on July 1 from Donna Johnson, who is retiring.

Sistad currently serves as principal of Horizon Middle School in Moorhead, a position she has held since 2023. She was assistant principal at Horizon from 2022-23. Sistad began her career in education as a first grade teacher at Pinedale Elementary School in Rapid City, S.D. from 2004-05. She then moved to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton High School where she worked as a special education paraprofessional from 2005-06 and a credit recovery specialist at the Alternative Learning Center from 2006-2016. At the ALC, she worked closely with students to support both academic progress and social-emotional development. Sistad served at West Fargo High School from 2016-2022, first as dean of students from 2016-17 and as assistant principal from 2017-2022 before moving to Horizon.

Sistad holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University Moorhead, as well as a Master of Science in Differentiated Instruction from Concordia University-St. Paul. She holds a principal license from MSUM.
