Principal's Corner
Dear SKDS Family,
In light of the recent tragic events at Abundant Life Christian School, I wanted to address some of the questions that many of you may, understandably, have regarding how we approach ensuring the safety and security of our school community.
First and foremost, please know that our students' and staff's safety and well-being are our highest priority. A learning environment where all individuals feel safe, physically and emotionally, is a necessity. Like you, we are deeply saddened and concerned by what has occurred, and our prayers are with the affected families and communities during this difficult time.
We continually evaluate and enhance our safety protocols to ensure our school is as secure as possible. Within our SKDS community of staff and families, we have experts in law enforcement, child development, pastoral care, and mental health, who contribute to making our school safe for all. Some of the steps we have in place and are actively reviewing include:
- Controlled Access: All entry points to our school are monitored and secured throughout the day to ensure that only authorized individuals are allowed on campus.
- Emergency Preparedness: We conduct lockdown drills and emergency response training with both students and staff to ensure everyone knows how to act in case of an emergency
- Partnership with Local Authorities: We work closely with law enforcement and emergency services to review and update our safety plans. Their guidance is invaluable in helping us maintain a secure environment.
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education and safety. Together, we will continue to foster a nurturing and secure environment where all students can learn, grow, and thrive.
With sincere gratitude,
Ms. Weiss

You Can Still Join The Parish Children's Choir
The parish Children’s Choir JOYFUL NOISE is still accepting students in grades 1-8 to join in the fun! Rehearsals will be most Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 PM in St. Cecilia’s Room just off the church narthex. We will sing for approximately one 10:00 Mass per month including Christmas Eve and Easter.
We will meet in the school cafeteria immediately after school and walk over to the St. Cecilia room for rehearsal. I will hand out a permission slip and other materials. It is very important that parents fill out and return the permission slip, as there will be no separate parents’ meeting. Students who have sports or other activities on some Thursdays are welcome as often as they are able to attend.

Virtue of the Month
The Virtue of the Month of December is HUMILITY!
During the month of January, we practice the virtue of humility. Humility is the awareness that all one’s gifts come from God and having an appreciation for the gifts of others. Humility is looking honestly at your strengths and weaknesses. Humility is recognizing that we are not better than others and should treat all people with love and respect. How will you demonstrate humility today?
