November 2024
This page highlights events and provides updates from Sarah Gentile, the Director of Fine Arts in the West Genesee Central School District.
A Note from the Director of Fine Arts
November is passing all too quickly! Our Wildcat Band wrapped up their season in the dome, CMS had their musical production, WGIS is having their musical production this weekend, and our Art teachers are gearing up for Scholastic Art Award submissions. In between the bigger events, we've also had some wonderful concerts and seen amazing things in art and music classrooms! It may be busy but we're working hard too!
Keep track of our events and join us throughout the year - our amazing wildcats are sure to impress you!

Finding Nemo, Jr. at WGIS
Disney/Pixar's Finding Nemo, Jr. is a musical adaptation of the beloved 2003 film, Finding Nemo, with new music by award-winning songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Marlin, an anxious and over-protective clownfish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his kid Nemo, who longs to explore the world beyond theri anemone home. But when Nemo is captured and taken to Sydney, Marlin faces his fears and sets off on an epic adventure across the ocean. With the help of loveable characters such as optimistic Dory, laid-back sea turtle Crush, and the supportive Tank Gang, Marlin and Nemo both overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. Featuring memorable songs such as "Just Keep Swimming," "Fish Are Friends Not Food," and "Go With The Flow," Finding Nemo, Jr. brings a vibrant underwater world to life on stage in a story full of family, friendship, and adventure (https://www.mtishows.com/disneys-finding-nemo-jr).
Finding Nemo, Jr. will be performed at West Genesee Intermediate School on November 21 & 22 at 7:00pm and on November 23 at 2:00pm. Tickets are $8.00 general admission, but are just about sold out!
Congratulations Wildcat Band
The Wildcat Band wrapped up the 2024 season with the annual New York State Field Band Conference Championships at the JMA Wireless Dome at Syracuse University. The band performed wonderfully, earning a score of 92.67 and placing 4th out of nine bands competing. All the bands performed at such a high level this season - it's great to see the activity have such competition locally! Congratulations to all the band members & thank you to our seniors for a great ride!! 💙💛
