MONTHLY CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Dear Families,
For our next unit we will study Clothes. During the study we will talk about clothes, how to put on different items, compare types of clothing and various fabrics, and the students will learn how to add clothing details to drawings.
We need your help to gather a collection of clothes to investigate. We need clothes of all sizes, types, colors, and fabrics. Here’s a list of suggestions, but you may also send in clothes that are not on the list. Please make sure they are clean and label them with your child’s name so we can return them to you at the end of our study. We promise to take good care of them!
Jackets, coats, parkas, windbreakers, raincoats, ponchos, suit coats, blazers, vests, sweaters, sweatshirts, t-shirts, turtlenecks, work shirts, dress shirts, blouses, flannel shirts, jeans, trousers, pants, skirts, dresses, shorts, pajamas, bathrobes, neckties, bow ties, bandanas, scarves, belts, sashes, suspenders, gloves, mittens, socks, tights, shoes, boots, sandals, bathing suits, exercise clothes, old-fashioned clothes, uniforms, costumes, and more!
As we study clothes, we will learn concepts in literacy, math, science, and the arts. We’ll also use thinking skills to investigate, ask questions, solve problems, make predictions, and test our ideas.
What You Can Do At Home
Talk with your child about clothes, Examine the fabrics together and discuss how the clothes were made. Look at the labels to find out where the clothes were made and identify the fabric. Look at pictures from the past and note how the clothing differs from clothing today.
When you shop for clothes, help your child notice how clothes are organized in the store and offer a simple explanation of how you compare prices.
Thank you for playing an important role in our learning!

MONTHLY RECOGNITION
November Shout Out
Miss Destiny has been with the Underwood Hills team for over a year. She started as a student teacher in Miss Alissa's class and then transitioned into a long term substitute position. She just finished her long term subbing at the end of October and will continue to support the students at Underwood Hills until her baby arrives in December (yay!) Destiny goes above and beyond for the students she serves and her calming energy is a magnet for so many students. She is WELL loved by students and staff. We cannot wait to see all that Miss Destiny accomplishes and we are so lucky to have been the beginning of a journey for her! We love you, Miss Destiny!
