Important Title I Information
As a Title I school, it's important that we keep families and our school community well informed about activities and important information related to Title I.
As we begin the 2024-2025 school year, we want to remind our Neshaminy families that every student's attendance, every day, is crucial to their academic success. Our staff needs your support to instill the habit of regular school attendance. It's important to understand that students who miss school frequently are at risk of lower academic achievement, failure, and even dropping out.
Regular school attendance not only contributes to academic success but also plays a significant role in boosting a child's self-esteem. By establishing this habit early on, children learn that attending and arriving on time to school daily is crucial. Good attendance not only helps children perform well in school but also prepares them for future work, fostering a sense of confidence and well-being.
“Every Student, Every Day” is our slogan to champion school attendance our schools.
Below are some suggestions you may wish to consider supporting your child's attendance:
- Avoid scheduling vacations when school is in session. They may be considered unexcused absences.
- Establishing regular bedtime and morning routines can significantly improve your child's attendance. This will ensure your child is well-rested and prepared for the school day, reducing the likelihood of absences.
- Lay out clothes and pack backpacks the night before.
- Talk about the importance of regular attendance and how your child feels about school.
- Only permit missing school if your child is genuinely sick. Use a thermometer to check for a fever. Remember that stomach aches and headaches may be signs of anxiety.
- If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to help your child feel comfortable and excited about learning.
- Avoid medical appointments when school is in session.
The District is taking extra steps to educate you on Policy 204: Attendance. Please see the letter linked below for additional information regarding this policy.
Absences submitted through the sch-attendance@neshaminy.org email will count as an excuse note.

Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
It is incredibly important to follow arrival and dismissal procedures so that everyone gets to and from school safely. We have three modes for arrival and dismissal: Car Rider, Walker, and Bus Rider. Each of our three doors accepts only one mode. What does this mean?
- CAR RIDER-If you are bringing your child in a car, you should be going to the back of the building. That is the only location. In the AM, there is a loop once you enter Heartwood Turn. You stay in your car and pull around. We ask that you do not get out of your car. Your child will exit the car on the passenger side on their own or a staff member can assist if needed. Students will get out of the car and walk up the ramp to enter the school. There is a staff member at the top of the ramp and safeties inside the door to assist.
Important: If you are a car rider picking up your child at the end of the day, please DO NOT arrive before 3:00 pm. The back gates do not open until 3:00, and if you come early Carl Sandburg staff cannot get out of Heartwood Turn at the end of their day. Please work together to support our school community. - WALKER-If you are on foot, the only location you should be going to is the walker door. This is the door in front of the horseshoe on Harmony Road. You are not to park your car, walk over to get your child, and then get back in your car. This door is for walkers only. If you do this, a staff member will ask you not to do this and they will notify me to follow up.
- BUS RIDER-These students are bus riders and enter and exit through the front lobby doors. No other cars should be pulling in the bus lane. And absolutely no families should be walking their children through the busses to get into cars parked in front of Sandburg.
All of the arrival and dismissal doors have staff assigned to the locations. Please be respectful of staff at all times and please follow the expectations of what they are asking you to do. We also have support from Middletown Township Police through Officer Dan. Our responsibility is to keep everyone safe. Thank you for following these rules and expectations.
