During the week of December 9th, students in grades 3 through 8 will participate in the Practice IAR Test in reading and math. This is a vital opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with the testing process, apply the strategies they’ve learned in class, and build their confidence for future success. Your support in ensuring a positive and productive testing experience is greatly appreciated.
To ensure a positive and productive testing experience, we ask for your support in the following ways:
- Please make sure your child arrives at school on time each day.
- Start with a Healthy Breakfast: A nutritious breakfast at home or school will help them stay energized and focused.
- Encourage Their Best Effort: Remind your child to use their practiced strategies, take their time, and approach the task positively.

Important: Tardy Procedures
To help ensure a smooth start to each school day, please remember the following procedures for dealing with tardiness:
- Arrival Time: Students must be in their homeroom by 8:15 a.m. to avoid being marked tardy.
- 8:15 - 8:30 a.m.: Tardy students will receive a BLUE pass, and teachers should record the tardy in PowerSchool-Attendance.
- After 8:30 a.m.: Tardy students must enter through the main office, where they will receive a YELLOW tardy pass. The attendance clerk will log these tardies in PowerSchool-Attendance.
Attendance Consequences: For Kindergarten through 8th-grade students, five tardies will result in After-School Detention. After the 5th tardy:
- The teacher should complete a Discipline Referral form through SWIS and call the parent to notify them.
- Submit the referral form to the Assistant Principal for follow-up.

Celebrating a Winning Season: The 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team’s Success
The 2024-2025 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team at Lincoln has officially wrapped up its season, and what a season it was! With a stellar 11-3 conference record, this group of athletes has etched its place in Lincoln history as one of the most successful girls' basketball teams to date.
A Season of Improvement and Growth
Looking back to last season, the team finished with a strong 7-5 record. With many of the same players returning this year, they managed to surpass those accomplishments with an even better record. Combining back-to-back winning seasons, these 8th graders have proven to be a force on the court. Their success is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and continuous improvement.
A Team Built on Defense and Teamwork
What made this year’s team so special was their ability to score points and their incredible teamwork and defensive intensity. Despite having only seven players on the roster, they never let the size of the team be a hindrance. Their defense became the backbone of their success, forcing turnovers and turning them into quick points on the other end.
The guards were masters at turning steals into fast-break layups, putting pressure on opposing offenses, and converting those opportunities into much-needed points. When the defense couldn’t create turnovers, the forwards stepped up, dominating the boards with rebounding and scoring on quick putback jump shots. It was a complete team effort, with every player stepping up when called upon.
A Bright Future Ahead
While this season marks the end of the road for this talented group of Lincoln 8th graders, their accomplishments will not soon be forgotten. They have shown what true teamwork, dedication, and perseverance can achieve, and we are proud of each player’s contribution to the team’s success.
Congratulations and Best Wishes
We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the players for their outstanding season. Lincoln’s students, staff, and community appreciate the time, effort, and dedication each of you put into making this season one to remember. Whether you continue playing basketball or take on new challenges, we know you will carry the lessons learned on the court into everything you do. Best of luck in your future basketball endeavors—we’re all cheering you on!
