Greetings, La Porte ISD Family. Today is a great day to be a Bulldog!
As we kick off the first full week of the 2024-2025 school year, I'm thrilled to share that the excitement and energy from the first day are still apparent across the district. My visits to various classrooms have already showcased a vibrant start, filled with engaging teaching and enthusiastic learning. The first day set a wonderful tone, with students building connections with their teachers and peers. This strong beginning is a promising sign of the academic growth we can expect as the year progresses.
Most of our fall sports are already underway. The Bulldogs Football team has a scrimmage scheduled for August 22 at Pasadena Veterans Stadium. The annual Border Battle against Deer Park is on August 30. I encourage you to attend a game or match whenever possible—our students really value your support.
Do you know of someone or have a neighbor who hasn’t yet returned to school? If so, we ask for your help in getting these students back, because regular school attendance is important for students' academic achievement, social and emotional well-being, and development of critical life skills. If you know of someone who needs our assistance getting back in school, please pass along our number: 281-604-7000. We are also willing to reach out to them if you prefer to call us with contact information.
Finally, we think that how we present ourselves is important, both at school and in the community. Our student dress code is designed to help them learn about taking care of their appearance and to support them in feeling proud and being self-disciplined. It is not meant to be overly restrictive, but rather to promote good hygiene, respect for others, and safety. We appreciate your support in helping your child follow the La Porte ISD Dress Code (which begins on page 54 of our Student Code of Conduct) and look forward to working together to create a positive and respectful environment.
In La Porte ISD, our unwavering focus remains on student success, and with the enthusiasm and dedication I've witnessed so far, I am confident our students will continue to thrive and excel.
Have a great week!
