Please note these Updates / Reminders of Campus Policies
- Student early morning DROP OFF is in the BACK of the School. See Parking and Traffic Flow Presentation (updated last year; no new changes) for additional information.
- Students will not be able to enter the front doors of the school BEFORE 9 AM.
- Students who arrive at school after 9 AM will enter through the Main Office.
- Students MUST present their McNeil Student ID (at all times) when entering the Front Office and they MUST sign-in if arriving at 9:00 or later. These students will then be given a blue hall pass, which will indicate their late arrival time. Students must have a pass to class if arriving at 9:00 or later.
- ALL Students in the hallway MUST have a PASS from their teachers (if not during a “passing period”).
- Students must present their McNeil Student IDs to conduct Cafeteria transactions. Students are able to print replacement IDs in the Library before school, during flex, and during lunch. Replacement IDs are $5.

On Saturday, November 9, YOUR Maverick Swim and Dive Teams will travel to the Aggieland Invitational at the Texas A&M Natatorium in College Station, Texas. GOOD LUCK MAVS!
YOUR Freshman Tennis team will travel to Georgetown High School on Tuesday, November 5 to compete in the Freshman Eagle Invitational Tennis Tournament and then YOUR JV Tennis MAVS will compete in JV Eagle Invitational Tennis Tournament on Thursday, November 7!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Maverick Lady Mav Basketball on victories in scrimmages last week (highlights linked here). This week, YOUR Lady Mavs Basketball team will play their first games of the season. YOUR MAVS host Bowie HS in the Maverick Gym at McNeil on Tuesday, November 5. Game times are Freshmen - 5:15pm, JV - 5:30pm, and Varsity - 7pm. Then on Thursday, November 7, YOUR Freshman and JV Mavs will compete in the Leander Glenn Tournament before YOUR MAVS host Hendrickson at McNeil on Friday, November 8. Game times are Freshmen - 5:15pm, JV - 5:30pm, and Varsity - 7pm.

YOUR McNeil Boys Varsity Basketball teams will be on the road this week to play in two scrimmages. First YOUR Mavs will travel to Pflugerville on Wednesday, November 6 and then to Killeen HS on Friday, November 8. Scrimmage times are 9th A - 5:30, JV - 5:30, 9th B - 7:00 and Varsity - 7:00.
YOUR Maverick Girls Golf White Team will play in the Anderson Invitational on Wednesday, November 6 at Morris Williams Golf Club. Then, on Friday, November 8 and Saturday November 9, YOUR Girls Golf Varsity Team will travel to The Bandit Golf Club (in New Braunfels) for the Clark Invitational Tournament. GOOD LUCK MAV GOLFERS!
YOUR Maverick Sub Varsity Football Teams will play their final games of the season this week against the Hutto Hippos. First, on Thursday, November 7, YOUR Maverick Football Freshman Blue Team will host the Hippos at 5:00 PM in Maverick Stadium followed by your Freshman Green Team at 6:30 PM in Maverick Stadium. Also on Thursday, November 7, YOUR JV MAVS will play at 6:00 PM at Hutto High School. GO MAVS!
Then, on Friday, November 8, YOUR McNeil Varsity Football team will play Hutto at Dragon Stadium (on the Round Rock High School campus) 201 Deep Wood Dr, Round Rock, TX 78681.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM. We encourage you to arrive early to avoid long lines at the entrance.
The gates will open at 6 PM.
It is Mav Football Senior Night! The Senior Night recognitions will take place at approximately 6:30 PM.

The McNeil High School Boys Golf Blue Team won the Temple Fall Invitational Tournament on October 28. The Mavs edged 2nd place Georgetown by 3 shots to claim the team title in a field of 15 teams. Junior Daniel Trevino led the way with a 3rd place individual finish, while senior Minjae Kim, junior Evan Herridge, and sophomore Eduardo Gomez-Horton also had good rounds to help the Mavs win the tournament.

Saturday started the first of our "Big 3" Fall meets. Your Mighty Maverick Swim & Dive team represented you all so very well.

McNeil Career and Technology and IB Classes Hosted Visitors from Spain!
On Wednesday, YOUR MAVS hosted 8th grade students from Colegios Jesús-María, a school in Murcia, Spain (Ntra. Sra. de la Fuensanta) through a new partnership with the Austin International School. Our visitors attended classes with YOUR MAVS in Advertising, Automotive Technology, Business Principles, Computer Science, Drone Aviation, Forensic Science, Medical Terminology, IB Theory of Knowledge and Air Force JROTC and ate in the McNeil Cafeteria! The adult visitors from Colegios Jesús-Maria toured the building and visited additional classes in Art, Band, Choir, Dance, Engineering, Orchestra, Physical Education, Theatre, and Spanish. ALL of our visitors LOVED McNeil and want to come back for a longer stay next tim! ASVAB Testing at McNeil High School!
This past week, YOUR McNeil Testing Department worked with our local Texas National Guard Recruiter, SSG Ogbeide, to provide ASVAB testing at McNeil High School. Do you want to join the military after high school graduation? One of the requirements to join is passing the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test (ASVAB). McNeil High School will offer the ASVAB Test again in the Spring Semester on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. If you would like to register to take the ASVAB test, fill out the form found HERE, or, come see Ms. Bowden, McNeil Testing Coordinator in the Testing Office, P109, by checking into the main office.

ANNUAL HALLOWEEN ON THE FARM!
On Wednesday, October 30, YOUR McNeil FFA and MHS Student Organizations hosted the Annual Halloween on the Farm! Over 400 people from the MAVnanimous Maverick community came together and played games, trick-or-treated, and met OUR Maverick ANIMALS! Many current and future Mavericks came dressed in their best costumes! There was food, hot coco, and a s'mores! McNeil Band and Guard MAKES HISTORY!
In the last weekend of October, on Saturday, October 26th, YOUR Maverick Band made school history at the Bands of America St. Louis Super Regional. This was YOUR MAVS first ever out-of-state competition and one of the five most prestigious events in America!
Seventy-one bands from 14 states competed over two days at the Dome at America's Center, and the top 14 advanced to the Finals on Saturday evening. YOUR MAVS had a strong prelims performance, WOWing the judges and an audience of thousands. The McNeil Band was announced in 3rd place in their class (big school division) and as a finalist. This is our first time in school history advancing to Finals at a Super Regional! WAY TO GO MAVS!
Then YOUR MAVS had an even STRONGER performance on Saturday night, finishing 4th overall! The three schools ahead of us were Blue Springs (MO), Broken Arrow (OK), and Bentonville (AR). They are all top national programs and perennial finalists at the BOA Grand Nationals competition, so YOUR MAVS are in good company. YOUR MAVS even placed higher than some recent Grand Nationals finalists!
Then, this weekend, on Saturday, November 2 YOUR Maverick Band and Guard made history by finishing 6th place in the UIL Area competition. This is the HIGHEST EVER finish for YOUR Maverick Band and Guard! There were rain delays, soggy uniforms, wet equipment, mud everywhere, and shortened warm-up times… but YOUR MAVnanimous Maverick Band and Guard STILL made history… NOTHING can stop the Mavs! WAY TO GO MAVS!! We are SO PROUD OF YOU!
Next up for YOUR MAV BAND is the San Antonio Super Regional 2024, this weekend, Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9. This contest will be held in the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX! Your MAVS are scheduled to first take the field on Friday at 6:45 PM. Click HERE for more information. GO MAVS!
YOUR McNeil CyberPatriots WIN BIG!
This past weekend, YOUR McNeil CyberPatriots Team had the first round of one of the BIGGEST national cybersecurity competitions, CyberPatriots. McNeil made a strong impact with SIX TEAMS, totaling 36 MAVtastic Mav student members, representing McNeil nationwide against 2000+ other teams! After four long hours, our Alpha Team (Syon B, Anish M, Urjith M, Kanishk S, Krithik S, Dhruv S) and Beta Team (Hemanth D, Srujan J, Nikhil K, Ajay K, Darsh P, Krishna V) scored PERFECT! This placed Alpha in the Top 10 teams in Texas!!! Congratulations to ALL teams. The MAV Nation wishes YOU ALL the best for round two next month!

YOUR McNeil AFJROTC Visited Houston!
Last weekend, YOUR Maverick Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps went to Houston to visit NASA and the NASA Astronaut Training Center before attending the Houston Air Show. Click here for photos and videos… NO ONE was injured in the EXPLOSION in the last video which was a SIMULATED bomb drop during the reenactment of the attack on Pearl Harbor. What a MEMORABLE event! If you know any Maverick or future Maverick interested in opportunities like this, please contact MSgt. Wilson (joshua_wilson@roundrockisd.org). ALL Mavericks, of any grade level (9th - 12th) are able to join the McNeil chapter of AFJROTC, at any time. We can’t wait to see what is next for the TX-934 Mavericks! GO MAVS!
Maverick Orchestra Celebrations - All-Region and Area
YOUR Maverick Orchestra has had great success over this last month! The students had TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Region 26 Orchestra auditions on Friday, October 11, and Saturday, October 12, 2024. The Maverick Orchestra sent 36 students and 20 of them won seats in the Region 26 Orchestras. Of the 20 students, 10 went on to the TMEA Area round to audition for the Texas All-State Orchestras.

Subscriptions are $52 per year and are available to those within the McNeil HS attendance zone. Flags will be put up one day prior to the holiday and taken down the day after.

UIL Number Sense
Do you like doing mental math? Do you enjoy doing calculations in your head? If so, then you need to join the McNeil UIL Number Sense Team. We need you to be a part of a fun and challenging math experience. We will meet monthly during Friday Flex to learn and practice the tricks of mental math, and then you will compete against other schools in and out of our district throughout the school year. If you're interested, please sign up for the UIL Number Sense- Seaman Flex club on Friday, November 8th. You can also contact Mrs. Seaman in room A222.
Early Voting
Early Voting starts Monday, October 21 and goes through Friday, November 1 at the Hartfield PAC (NEXT DOOR TO McNeil HS). Voting hours are 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM (except on Sunday, October 27 when hours are 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM). Please be aware of the potential slowdowns this may cause to before / after school traffic. We will NOT alter our drop off or pick up procedures during the voting period.

Boys Basketball Tryout Information
Varsity, JV, and 9th Tryouts will be 6 hours in all.
*If you are a Varsity Football player, you will have a 3 day practice tryout after varsity football season is complete, but you must let Coach Maxwell know you are interested in our Boys Basketball Program by Oct. 23rd*
Day 1: November 8th (Friday) - 7:30 am to 8:45 am
Day 2: November 9th (Saturday) - 8:00am to 10:30 am
Day 3: November 11th (Monday) - 7:30 am to 8:45 am
**All students who want to try out must have Rank One completed and have a sports physical on file. See our Sports Trainers for more information.
**All students must have passed their 1st 9 weeks report card.
**If anyone failed the 1st 9 weeks, they must have passed their November 4th IPR.

Princeton Review PSAT/SAT Prep Class - Fall 2024
Princeton Review PSAT/SAT Prep Class - Fall 2024
Students who actively participate in the Princeton Review course significantly increase their performance on their SAT, thus increasing their opportunities to gain admission to college and universities, and earn scholarships and entry into select programs. This virtual course focuses exclusively on the math and verbal skills specific to the SAT.
Before you register, please be aware of the following expectations:
Students should only register to attend one session.
Students must attend all days of the course.
Students will receive log on instructions from their instructor, and must log on daily by the designated start time for their course and stay every day for the duration of their designated course time.
A firm commitment from both the student and their family is required in order to maximize the impact of the course.
The fee for this course is $125.00 (reduced from $700.00!) and includes all materials and instruction.
Every student is welcome. If financial aid is required to offset the cost, please complete the Scholarship Request Form.
Students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
We have limited seats available. Based on the success of previous courses, we anticipate that the available seats will fill quickly.
No refunds will be issued for Cancellation Request Forms submitted after the 2nd class date.
A materials fee of $75 cannot be refunded after materials have been received.
