FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parent/Guardians,
The last two weeks have been a whirlwind with COVID, but we hope to see the light at the end of the first tunnel. We come out of it and then head into the next tunnel. That has been the feeling with the pandemic over the past two years. But, we are getting through what COVID is throwing at us. We are ready!!!!
I wish to thank everyone for your support during this time. What I do need from you is to rally together to increase our Kindergarten enrollment. We have had a slow start for the new Kindergarten class. That will help us a lot to maintain the quality of education that we are used to.
At our last school board meeting, the discussion centered around revising the participation category. We have an extraordinary meeting scheduled to review it in more detail and look at possible options. One of the suggestions is to do away with categories and replace them with hours. Another option is to keep what we have with revisions, especially around Bingo.
This coming week we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Students will be involved with Spirit week activities and on Friday with virtual Bingo, which has proven to be a fun activity. Students will receive a wristband and a magnet to celebrate the week.
The Open House has been canceled and replaced with a virtual Open House on Tuesday, February 1st at 7pm. Contact Mrs. Cierra for the Zoom link. The Open House is for prospective parents. Please pass this information to friends.
Some of our Junior High students are actively preparing for the Academic Decathlon, held on Saturday, March 5th.
I sent out an update regarding revised guidance from the county health department this morning, and I will place that information here also. The biggest time consumer with COVID is the reporting and contact tracing aspect when there is a positive case.
We are stepping up our testing program with an additional testing company, "Predicine." I will pass out the registration information to register your child. We anticipate testing on Fridays so that you will have results by Sunday. This will be in addition to Virus Geeks, who have stepped up with the return of test results. It's best to have a backup plan.
Regarding masks, we would ask that you supply N95, KN95, surgical masks, or double mask your child. This will assist in providing a higher level of protection for students against the virus.
Unfortunately, we will not be having the Crab Feed again this year. This is usually a wonderful night that we all enjoy, and hopefully, we will be able to have it again next year.
I wish you all the best over the next two weeks.
God Bless and Stay Safe,
Vincent Riener
