This event is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to meet their new teacher, become familiar with the classroom environment, drop off school supplies, and ensure all necessary paperwork is up to date. Our dedicated staff is eager to welcome you and your child to Eagle Crest Elementary School and make this transition as smooth as possible.
Event Details:

PTO UPDATE
Eagle Crest’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is energized and excited for the ‘23-24 school year! All Eagle Crest parents/guardians and teachers are members of the PTO, and we truly welcome all families and encourage your participation in the organization.
The PTO’s goals are to enrich the educational experience of students, foster community through social events such as the back-to-school picnic (Friday, September 8 at 5PM), and provide funds for school needs.
We hope all families will attend the first Coffee with the Principal & PTO meeting during Meet the Teacher Night, on Monday, August 14! Families can choose to come to the 4:30 or 5 o’clock meeting. Principal Holden will speak, and PTO board members will be available to answer questions. These brief sessions will be held in the school gym.
This year, Eagle Crest Elementary School and the PTO are thrilled to be bringing back the room parent program! Room parents will:
Help to build connections and community for each class and grade.
Take (some) stress off teachers by coordinating volunteers for field trips, soliciting needed classroom supplies, and sending reminders for events.
Organize an opt-in directory for the grade, making it easier to plan a playdate or send invitations for a birthday party.
If you might be interested in serving as a room parent, please complete this short form.
To receive updates about PTO events, please sign up for our newsletter.
To learn more about volunteer opportunities, please visit our website. We need and appreciate parents who are able to volunteer once a year or once a week!
If you have an hour to spare on Friday, August 18, please join us to fill small popcorn bags from 2-3 PM.
INTRODUCING OUR NEW STAFF!
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Our district school supply lists can be found on the SVVSD School Supply webpage. These lists are broken down by grade level and are consistent across the district. Many families like to bring their supplies to the Meet the Teacher event on August 14th, but you can also send them in when school starts. If you are needing support with accessing school supplies our school counselor will have some available during the Meet the Teacher evening.
CLASS LISTS
Class lists for students in grades 1st-5th will be posted outside of the main office on Friday, August 11th at 9:00am. Kindergarten class lists will be shared after the assessment days, on August 17th. Each year this is an exciting tradition and we know that families and students are looking forward to getting to know their new teachers and classmates. You can expect to hear directly from teachers after the lists are posted.
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
A unique part of Eagle Crest is that we are a neighborhood community school and all families can walk, bike, or drive for arrival and dismissal. Help us keep everyone safe (and the flow efficient) by following these guidelines.
Arrival - Our first bell rings at 8:35 and outdoor supervision begins at 8:25. At 8:35 children can enter the building to access their classrooms. When students arrive at school they are expected to line up outside by their classroom doors. The playground equipment is not open at this time. Our late bell rings at 8:40am. If a child arrives after this time, they must check in at the main office.
- Breakfast - If you would like your child to receive breakfast before school, please have them at the front entrance at 8:15am. This allows students plenty of time to eat and to arrive to class on time. We do not have adult supervision before 8:15am, so please wait with your child until they are welcomed into the building.
- Walkers/Bikers - Families are welcome to walk students to their classroom doors between 8:20 and 8:35am. If you are driving to school, and want to walk your student to the classroom, please plan to park on Clover Basin Drive, and walk up. There is very limited parking in our staff lot and parking is not permitted in the Hug and Go.
- Drivers - Families are also encouraged to use our Hug and Go drop off lane right in front of the main office. This is truly a “drive through experience” in which ECES staff will open your back door and help unload kids so that you can drive off and get on with your day. Drivers are asked to remain in their vehicles.
IPAD INSURANCE
We are excited to share that for the 2023-2024 school year SVVSD will continue to provide iPads for all K-5th grade students to use for learning at school and home! Preschool students will have access to classroom iPads. Continuing this year, the SVVSD policy is that K-5 families will need to purchase insurance in order to offset costs due to lost or damaged iPads. The district offers iPad insurance for $25/year for each student ($15 for Reduced Fee and $10 for Free Fee Students). We believe that every student at Eagle Crest should opt-in to have iPad insurance as a safety-net for any damage or loss. In order to opt into the district insurance and be covered, you must pay at least a portion of the $25 fee. You can find out more details about the coverage in the links below. The fees are available to pay online in your Infinite Campus Portal account, or you can bring payment directly to Eagle Crest.

SAVE THE DATE - UPCOMING VOLUNTEER TRAININGS
Family volunteers are part of the rich tradition in our community focused school, and we are eager to welcome everyone in to support student learning at Eagle Crest!
This year, we will be offering volunteer training throughout the month of September. This training will be required for adults who would like to volunteer in our classrooms or chaperone on field trips. It will be an opportunity for us to review safety protocols, confidentiality expectations, and some of the routines and procedures in place to help everything run smoothly.
These trainings will be offered at a variety of days and times. We will include Webex Links and more information as we get closer.
September 11th, Virtual - 6:00pm

September 12th, Virtual - 9:45am

Classroom teachers will begin reaching out with their volunteer needs through their regular newsletters. When we have opportunities to help in the library, Specials classes, or other areas of the school we will share those opportunities in this weekly newsletter.
FREE AND REDUCED FEES, BREAKFAST & LUNCH
Thanks to Proposition FF, all students will now receive complimentary breakfast and lunch at school, with the only additional cost being for seconds. Families can contribute by sending cash/check or making a digital payment, and packed lunches from home remain an option.
While lunch charges no longer apply, we kindly urge all families to complete the Free & Reduced Fees Application. This not only benefits your family but also supports our school in terms of funding, staffing, and reduced fees for activities. Remember to renew this application annually for access to various benefits.
Apply for free & reduced fees today to take advantage of these opportunities!
If you require assistance or prefer a paper application, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. You can find more information about our Nutrition Services department, the Free & Reduced Application, or Proposition FF on our district website.
