Term 2 Issue 8 6th June 2024
NOONGAR SEASON OF MAKURU (JUN-JUL)
THURSDAY 20th JUNE SCHOOL FINISHES AT 1pm
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
This week we entered the Noongar Season of Makuru. Makuru is the season of the winter months, lasting from June to July which saw the rainfall begin over last weekend. During this season, the days are cold and wet, with freezing temperatures at night. The land is rejuvenated with rain, and rivers and creeks flow strongly. The people traditionally gather around the fire to stay warm and tell stories, and also use this time to forage for bush tucker such as kangaroo, emu, and seasonal fruits and vegetables. Makuru is a time for reflection, rest, and preparing for the upcoming spring season.
SEMESTER ONE ACADEMIC REPORTS & INTERVIEWS 20th JUNE
Semester One academic reports for Kindy to Year 6 will be released next Wednesday 12th June via Seqta Engage. If you have forgotten your password or have yet to access Seqta Engage, please see the instructions on our website:

Once reports are released, parents in PP-6 will have the opportunity to book an appointment to meet with teachers should they wish to avail themselves of this opportunity. Interviews will take place on Thursday, 20th June between 1:30pm and 6pm. A link will be sent out next week via text and email for parents to book an interview time. These interviews are optional and a chance to discuss your child's progress with their teacher. If you are having difficulty accessing Seqta Engage, please contact ithelp@stfrancisbutler.wa.edu.au
Please note that on Thursday 20th June school finishes at 1pm to enable parent interviews to take place. Camp Australia will be operating from 1pm for parents wishing to make use of the service.

YOUR MOVE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
In conjunction with the City of Wanneroo and Your Move Schools Program, Mrs Kavanagh has worked in partnership to develop a Safe Routes to School Guide which is attached below. This guide provides the safest walking/riding/scooting to school routes in the surrounding suburbs for our children and is designed to maximise activity whilst keeping our children safe. A wonderful initiative by the City of Wanneroo and Your Move. Thanks to Mrs Kavanagh for her work in making this document available to our families.
