New Information

We had a great first week of December! The semester is coming to an end. We have lots of learning and engaging lessons still planned for students. Please have your child at school any day that they are healthy.

Tired of cooking or want to eat with some friends? Eat at Freddy's on Tuesday and tell them you are from Young Elementary School.

Class Winter Parties

Class winter parties will be on Thursday, December 19 at 2:00pm. This is a very busy time. If you plan to stop by, please complete the form below so that you won't have to wait in line. ALL parents are signed in through our raptor system. Please watch for sign-ups from classroom teachers. Homeroom parents will be sending home the link through teachers.

Note From The PTA 📚

The Santa Pictures were a success! We took about 100 pictures and we are getting those to families as soon as we can. If you pre-purchased and don't receive yours by Friday, December 13th, please reach out.

The December PTA meeting will be Tuesday at 8AM in the library. Please check in at the office.

Parents of Spelling Bee Participants

Spelling Bee participants will practice on Monday and Thursday AM at school. We have a guest that will teach students the rules and procedures of a spelling bee to make them more comfortable on the day of the event.

Our school spelling bee will be on Monday, December 16 at 8:15AM. If your child is attending and you plan to attend, arrive early and bring your ID to be scanned in the office.

Notes from the Counselor- Safety

Throughout the month of December I will be in classrooms discussing safety and how to make safe choices with help from the Empower Me! curriculum. Empower Me! teaches children to identify their safety net of trusted adults and encourages them to reach out to one of those adults if anyone is trying to break their safety rules. I encourage you to talk about safety and making safe choices with your children. Below are some tips to help start the conversation and keep your kids safe. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Nelson at anelson3@sdale.org.

Ask your student about their 5 trusted adults.
Make sure they check first with the adult in charge before going anywhere with anyone
Make sure your children are on safe and secure websites or phone apps
Help them understand that they are in charge of their body and they have the right to tell someone if they don't want to be touched
Discuss the difference between a safe choice and an unsafe choice
