Northwest News: April 2024
April 2024 Edition

Parking & Safety
For the safety of our students, their siblings, and all Northwest families, please adhere to the traffic flow procedures as outlined below.
🟦 Enter at the first entrance closest to the building.
🟩 Drop-off area. This is a drop & go area, please do not park here; utilize this area to drop students off beginning at 8:50. Parents dropping their student off for breakfast should wait with their students until the doors open at 8:15.
⬜ Parking. Please utilize the parking lot to park and walk students to & from their designated doors. We understand it might be a longer walk but it is much safer than students entering and exiting vehicles on the main road. Refrain from parking on the street in front of the building; this is a No Parking Zone for Lebanon City.
🟥 Exit out of the entrance at the far end of the parking lot. This will help create a fluid traffic pattern.

Monday, April 8th: Solar Eclipse/Early Dismissal
On Monday, April 8, 2024, there will be a significant astronomical event - a solar eclipse. In our area of Pennsylvania, it will begin around 2:05 PM and last until around 4:30 PM. The time when the moon will appear directly in front of the sun will occur between 3:15 PM and 3:20 PM. As a result, we have decided to dismiss school early that day to ensure the safety of our students. Northwest will be dismissing at 1:00pm on this day, for more information click on the PDF below.
The solar eclipse is a rare occurrence and presents an excellent opportunity for students to observe and learn about this natural phenomenon. However, it is essential to take precautions to protect everyone's eyesight during the event. Viewing the eclipse without proper eye protection can cause serious eye damage.
April Days to Celebrate

🎓Portrait of a Graduate🎓
Dear Family Members,
The Lebanon School District is in the process of revising its comprehensive plan and part of the plan includes looking at a revision of the district’s mission and vision statements. Included in this process is defining the Lebanon School District’s Portrait of a Graduate.
The Portrait of a Graduate provides an intentional, focused direction for helping students develop attributes that are necessary to successfully navigate their next steps in life. The process of building and implementing a Portrait of a Graduate is a community effort. It includes inviting a group of participants including teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community and business leaders to discuss the traits and skills that our students will need the most to be successful in adult life. It is also important to note that our district's Portrait of a Graduate is meant to complement academics as measures of preparedness.
We invite you to be a member of our team! Meetings will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the High School LGI. Our group will meet a total of four times this spring to finalize our process.
Final meeting dates for the year is:
April 10, 2024
If you would like to accept this invitation, and be a member of our Portrait of a Graduate committee, please register at https://tinyurl.com/lsdportrait
With Pride,
