Principal's Message
As we approach the quarter mark of the school year, we wanted to extend our gratitude to the Sherwood Heights families.
Whether it be the patience and understanding in navigating student pick-up and drop-off with the construction of the new replacement school, collaborative planning for student success, or the feedback on how ‘we are doing’ as a school, we appreciate it!
This week we honoured Remembrance Day with a school wide assembly. Our students did amazing as it can be hard emotionally for some. For our students, it is important to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
It will be a busy week when we return from November break. School Council will be held on November 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the library. We will send out the agenda the day prior.
We also look forward to honouring the 2023-24 student award winners in Grade 7 and 8 on November 21st starting at 4:00 p.m. in the gym. We are going to be in-person and will live stream the event as well. To the families of the award winners, you will be receiving the invitation to attend and how to RSVP to confirm the number of members that will be in attendance. Please note, due to the size of our gymnasium, we are asking a maximum of four family members per award recipient.
On the athletic front, volleyball playoffs are on the horizon. Good luck to all of our teams and thank you to the parents, players and coaches for representing Sherwood Heights the ‘right way’. Speaking about coaches and planning for the upcoming basketball season, if you would like to potentially help coach one of the teams, please send an expression of interest to our Athletic Director, katie.oszip@eips.ca.
From our Band Parent Association, this is a friendly reminder about our ongoing Purdys Chocolate fundraiser to support the Sherwood Heights Junior High Band! We’ve made fantastic progress, but we still have some way to go to reach our $3,500 goal. Currently, we’ve raised $1,315.91 – thank you to everyone who has participated so far!
Important Details:
· Order Deadline: November 18
· Pick-Up Location: 913 Cedar Street, 6:00–8:00 p.m.
We’d love to keep the momentum going, so please consider placing an order if you haven’t yet. You can easily participate by visiting the Purdys website and searching for our campaign, or by using our band’s fundraising link:
Sherwood Heights BPA Fundraising
Campaign #6788
This is a perfect opportunity to stock up on holiday treats and share the fundraiser with family and friends to help us reach our goal. Every order directly supports our band program and helps to cover the costs of trips and competitions for our students. Thank you for your continued support – together, we can make this a success for our band students!
In closing, we wish our students and families a safe and restful November break.
Please do not hesitate should you have any questions or concerns.
