GLOBE hosts develop workshop in collaboration with the French Embassy
On March 7, The GLOBE Academy was honored to host Optimizing Pedagogical Practices in an Immersion Setting, a professional development workshop in collaboration with Villa Albertine, a division of the French Embassy in the United States.
Selected as a host site with our LabelFrancÉducation accreditation, which recognizes schools for excellence in bilingual French education, we welcomed 30 educators from across the Southeast. Led by Blake Ramsey, the training focused on best practices in dual language immersion (DLI), instructional strategies, and the Strategic Teaching Framework for DLI Training.
This initiative supports Villa Albertine’s mission to expand access to French language education and strengthen transatlantic educational partnerships.
A special thanks to our partners at Villa Albertine, Meryem Sekkate and David Ruffel. We also extend our gratitude to Mathieu Jourdan-Gassin, owner of Saint Germain, a French-owned small business bakery, for providing breakfast catering for the event.
Parent Coffee Talk - STAMP Testing
Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday's Parent Coffee Talk, all about STAMP (Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency) Testing, presented by Sandra Daniel, GLOBE's Director of Language Program. A recording of the presentation can be viewed here. Slides used during the presentation can be viewed here. STAMP testing will run from March 26 to April 3. If you have any questions after reviewing the slides and information, please reach out to Ms. Daniel.
GLOBE Elementary new campus update
Construction continues at our new campus for grades K through 5. Grounds have been prepared ready to take delivery of mobile units this week, weather permitting. Crews continue to work on completion of the electrical systems and HVAC, and hallways and classrooms begin to take shape as painters apply GLOBE's color scheme.
GLOBE recently sent out an email update on the progress of our new campus for grades K through 5. You can view the email here. Thank you to everyone who has sent in questions, the vast majority of which will be answered via these weekly updates.
Question: Will there be more parent parking for school events than we currently have at LC?
Question: Will there be a library?
Yes, there will be a library.
Please continue to submit your questions here.
Campus notes
Lower Campus
Francophonie celebration change of time.
Please note that the Francophonie performance at Lower Campus on Thursday, March 20, has been moved forward to the earlier time of 8:30am, so as not to coincide with the performance at Upper Campus. Families of French track students are welcome to attend.
Read Across America Day
In case you missed it, students dressed up as characters from their favorite books on Monday, March 3, as part of Read Across America Day 2025. Watch a short video of the parade, here.
LC Clinic
Please send a FULL CHANGE of clothes with your child, regardless of their grade level. As spring ramps up, there will be a lot of mud, and the clinic is unable to provide replacement clothes for every child. If your student comes to the clinic for a “mud” accident, there is a possibility we will have to reach out to you for either pickup or to bring replacement clothes. Thank you.
Upper Campus
Francophonie celebration, March 20, at 1pm
This year's Francophonie celebration will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 1pm in the UC Auditorium. Doors open at 12:45pm. Families of French track students are welcome to attend.

Summer Language Camp 2025

Summer Language Camp 2025 will run during the following weeks: June 9 (Mandarin), June 16 (French) and June 23 (Spanish). Registration is now open.
Dress-down Thursdays
Help our 8th grade students raise money for their trip to Savannah by bringing $1 to dress down (out of uniform) each Thursday from March 6 to April 3. Please adhere to DeKalb County dress code rules. Parent volunteers will be collecting money at the school entrances of both campuses. Please make every effort to bring the exact change.
Important notes: On March 20, French students will need to wear the recommended attire for the Francophonie celebration.

Lower Campus Library
Ms. Stowe is seeking volunteers to help organize two third classroom libraries (Ms. Rembert (Spanish) and Ms. Hilton (Mandarin). We're looking to pull anything in bad condition and outdated/politically incorrect books. If we find stray library books in the process, that's a bonus! If you would like to volunteer, please contact Ms. Stowe here.
The two teachers looking for help with this are Ms. Rembert and Ms. Hilton, who are both 3rd-grade English leads on the Spanish and Mandarin tracks, respectively. We're hoping to have a couple of volunteers for each classroom (4 total volunteers) come for two hours or so sometime in the next two weeks.

Join us from 4pm - 9pm on March 20 for spirit night at SALARYMAN - Toco Hills. Call in and take out included 10% of proceeds will be donated to GLOBE. No flyer is needed, just mention you are with GLOBE.
