GISH GLIMPSE
May 2024
Principal's Message
The leaves on the trees and the greening of the grass are the signs of warmer weather and more activity both in and out of the school. Our Cake Walk happens this Friday, which is always exciting, but there are many other activities and events that make May such a wonderful month. In addition to many field trips, Track and Field for Junior High happens on May 23rd, and our Spring Showcase, Musical Theatre performance and Book Fair wrap up the month. Students have been preparing for these events for some time, in addition to working hard as we get ready for the busy month of June. Staff have been giving that extra push to finalize curriculum and prepare students for the end of another school year. Time sure flies!
Wishing everyone a beautiful month of warmth and growth!
Mr. Roszell
ESG Principal

Reminders
Classroom & Teacher Requests
PLEASE respect Gish teachers’ professionalism in determining the optimal class placement for your child(ren) next year. We ask that you NOT make specific requests. We consider many factors including work habits, gender, personalities, positive friendships, academic ability, character qualities, etc. and meet several times to re-check our decisions. If you have educational reasons to support a specific placement, please share details in an email or letter to Principal Roszell (randy.roszell@spschools.org) by May 12. We will not be making changes to class lists in August and September.
Last Chance for yearbook orders.
School Zone Safety
- Please respect designated drop-off and pick-up areas. Do not block the driveways of neighborhood residents or move their garbage bins.
- The drive-through drop-off zone is NOT for parking. Please be prompt and once your child has exited the vehicle, move ahead when safe to do so. If your child needs help that requires you to park, please find a spot on the street so we can keep the flow of traffic moving.
- Don't attempt a U-turn or three-point turn - these are dangerous maneuvers that can confuse other drivers and pedestrians.
- Don't drive around cars that are stopped. There's a reason why they're stopped, and it is likely to let a child cross in front of them.
- Please remind students that Jaywalking is not safe. To ensure everyone gets to school safely please remind your children to use the marked crosswalks.
NO MORE Plastic Utensils
Please remember that we are NO longer providing plastic utensils and will NOT be bringing anymore in. Please send appropriate eating tools with your children as needed.
