Principal's Corner
Hello Hilltoppers,
We have been reviewing and resetting school wide expectations in our classes with students as we start second semester. One of our most important expectations is in regards to how we interact with one another. E. C. Glass High School administration, teachers, and staff take bullying and/or name calling very seriously. We are continuously striving to create the safest environment possible for our students. It is the expectation that all reported incidents of name calling and bullying be investigated and remediated promptly. We all need to work together to put an end to these hurtful interactions. We believe and value all Hilltoppers and are invested in your success. We are all Hilltoppers and we are in this together, because together, we keep climbing!

JROTC
E.C.Glass JROTC Cadets helped out with the Boys and Girls Club of Lynchburg supporting their annual "Resolution Run" by providing road securtiy. JROTC also entered an 8-person formation running team. The Resolution Run was created to help assist Boys and Girls Club Members, and their families along with the Greater Lynchburg Community to take the first steps necessary to begin or continue their commitment to a more healthy and active lifestyle in the New Year. Through the support of the individual participants and local business partners, the Resolution Run will enable the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg to grow and continue to offer life changing after school programming to more than 180 of Lynchburg’s at-risk youth. All funds raised through sponsorship, registration fees, and raffle go directly to serve the kids. ECG JROTC also presented a $100 donation to the Club.

Nurse News
"Greetings from the ECG clinic and welcome to the new decade! I hope everyone had a healthy, happy, and relaxing break.
As we head into the lovely cold, flu, strep, and stomach bug season please make sure your student is getting enough sleep, eating properly, and washing their hands regularly. There are several things you can do at home to help prevent the spread of germs which include washing your student's winter coat, back pack, and any other item of clothing that the student wears regularly. Remind your student to cover their cough and either wash their hands or use hand sanitizer after using the restroom as well as after blowing their nose or coughing.
It is highly recommended that you obtain a new toothbrush after being on any antibiotic for 3 days and while you're at it, wash any towel that has come in contact with the mouth or face area.
Friendly reminder that if your student is running a fever of 100.1 or higher or has been vomiting, please keep them home for 24 hours after the symptoms disappear without the use of medication. If the nurse calls you to pick up your student, please do so within 45 minutes of the initial contact due to limited space in the clinic. The clinic phone is 434-515-5374. Please feel free to reach out to the nurse as needed.
Thank you and Happy New Year!

Students competed for a $15 gift card to Panera Bread card for the best "Buche de Noel" (French Yule Log Cake), the traditional dessert in France served on Christmas Eve and Grant Helm won the prize for his beautiful and delicious Buche! German Students were encouraged to make Gingerbread Houses and Spanish students were to make traditional Holiday cookies. French Club president Helen Cohen brought a Hanukkah Menorah and taught fellow students to play Dreidel, a traditional Jewish game played during Hanukkah. French students learned Christmas Carols in French and everyone enjoyed lots of wonderful cake, cookies and candies to celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah!
