Pick up and Drop Off Procedures

Change in Transportation

If you are changing the mode of transportation your child takes when leaving school you must call before 2:30 PM. This allows us time to contact teacher and ensure the child gets the change before the end of the school day.

Morning Drop Off

Loop Drop Off

Parents enter the drop off lane from Charisma. You may start filling both lanes. We will have 2 drop off lanes starting at 7:05. We are trying to keep the line from getting to the neighborhood.

At the drop off area teachers will be along the sidewalk to help when needed.

*Please have your child unbuckled and ready to get out of the car when entering the drop-off area.

Right lane must turn right into the drop off loop. Left lane has the option to go straight or turn right.

In the drop-off area teachers will be walking between the cars guiding students to the sidewalk. One teacher will be holding a stop sign for all cars to stop. Once all students are clear the teacher will turn the stop sign to slow and that group of cars will pull forward to exit the lot.

**Students will stay in the car until all adjacent cars stop.

*** PLEASE PLACE YOUR CAR IN PARK WHILE IN THE DROP-OFF AREA.

Back Lot Drop Off Line

If the back gates are open on a school day you may use it as a drop off point starting at 7:05 am. Teachers will be in the hall to monitor students as they enter the building. Pull through the lot and park along the playground. You may get out and help your student to the sidewalk. The student will walk down the sidewalk by themselves to the 3rd/4th grade hall.

We have a few things to keep in mind:

There will not be an administrator/teacher at the back parking lot to help your student out of the car.

There will be an administrator located by the school building during the first week to welcome your children.
There are teachers in the hall to monitor when they are entering the building.

After exiting the back parking lot drop off please move to the left lane.

This helps with exiting straight out of the parking lot and avoiding any cars turning right to drop students at the side of the school.

Yield to cars coming from side student drop off.

The cars coming from the side drop off will have the right-of-way when leaving the parking lot. Please wait for these to leave and then fill in right behind in either the right turn or left turn lanes to exit the parking lot. The officer will try and get you out with the group leaving.

......Yield Please

As you enter the car line off of Tower Road please yield to cars coming out of the back lot. These cars will move over to the left lane and exit straight out of the line. This will continue to help traffic flow for the parents utilizing the back parking lot and will not slow you down dropping off. In the coming weeks, we will be adding a yield sign also.

Front Drop off and Pick up for Young Students

Drop Off – must park and walk child across the bus lane.

We would love for our young students needing help getting unbuckled take advantage of this area.

Enter the front parking lot from 663 using the North Entrance. Spaces marked in blue on the map below are for our 3 year old group and students with special circumstances. You must park, exit your car, and walk your child across the bus lane in you use this parking lot.

Pick Up - Pick up must be set up by the teacher.

Enter the North Entrance and park in the spaces facing the school (if those are full pull into any open space). You may exit your car and display your child pick up card.

Walkers

In the morning the gate will open at 7:05. You may walk your child up to the school if it is before 7:20. The gate will be locked at 7:25. If students ride their bikes when they enter the gates they are to walk their bikes to the school. If you utilize the walking trail please do not park or drive through the loop or next to the crosswalk. (Red lines on the map.)

*** Please be aware of your time! If you are running late as a walker you will not receive assistance crossing roads and will be locked out of the gated area.

In the afternoon, students that walk to the neighborhood will walk straight out of the gate and cross Charisma. 5th-grade students will be released first followed by each grade level. Leaving the building the students will walk their bikes out of the gates and across Charisma before riding. Parents, please wait outside of the gate in the afternoon.

*Please do not park in the loop or use it as a drop-off. Also, please avoid parking on Charisma next to the crosswalk at pickup and dismal. (red lines on map)

Crossing Guard Locations

Crossing guards are located on McAlpin Rd, Tower Rd, and the school crosswalk along Charisma. Crossing guards on McAlpin and Tower Rd start crossing students at 7:00. The walker gate opens at 7:05. Students crossing at other locations will not be monitored.

Tower Rd Crossing – yellow arrows

Cross Tower Road then cross Charisma and follow Charisma to the back walker gate. Crossing Charisma avoids students crossing the car line lane unsupervised.

Charisma Crossing – Blue Arrows coming from McAlpin, Yellow arrows coming from Tower Rd

Cross Charisma Drive and walk along the sidewalk to the back gate.

Gate closes at 7:25 am

Students will be crossed at McAlpin Road and then again at Charisma Drive. Crossing Charisma Drive again keeps the students from crossing Escapade Ct. unsupervised.

Please remind your children to cross only at marked areas. Some have been crossing at Red Rose Trail and there is no marking or crossing guard.

Afternoon Pick Up

Loop Pick Up Line

You may fill both lanes when coming to pick up your child. You will stay in two lanes all the way through the pick-up area. You must have the school issued pick up card to go through the car line. Hold it up in your window for the teacher to see. The Teacher will enter the number written on the car tag into her phone. Your child's name will display in the cafeteria and they will exit the building. Please follow the car in front of you, do not leave a gap and do not change lanes once your number is entered. We will direct the students to their cars.

If you child misses their name. We will ask you to pull into one of the adjacent lots (green area on map) and we will bring your child to you. This will help the line continue to move.

* PLEASE PLACE YOUR CAR IN PARK WHILE LOADING YOUR CHILD

** PLEASE DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR.

*** If you child needs assistance buckling. PLEASE PULL INTO ANY OF THE ADJACENT LOTS to buckle your child. This will help keep the line moving for all parents.

Bus Riders

Teachers will walk students to the bus located at the front of the school. Busses leave at 3:15. Bus contracts must be filled out, submitted and processed by the transportation office before a student can ride the bus. When you have been notified by the transportation department please notify your child’s teacher when they will start riding the bus.
