Gallatin High Update
Week of November 18-23, 2024
Congratulations to the Raptor Volleyball Team for winning the state championship
Important Information M-Bar-T program in Big Sky
Gallatin High will be working with Big Sky's M-Bar-T program a bit differently this year. At the end of the twelve week grading period (November 22) a grade report will be pulled. A list of eligible students will be sent to Big Sky on Tuesday, November 26. Students will no longer need to pick up a letter from the main office, but will give their names at the the Basecamp or Mountain Services Ticket Windows after November 25th, 2024.
Students who are not eligible at the twelve week grading period will not be able to pick up a letter later in the season once their grades come up. It is very important that students wishing to participate ensure that they are eligible by earning a 3.0 GPA before the end of the 12 week grading period.
If you have any questions, you can check out this FAQ document from Big Sky.
This week's PAC meeting will be Tuesday at 5pm instead of 6pm. All are welcome!

Singin' in the Rain
Several GHS students helped out both on stage and behind the scenes of the recent BHS production of Singin' in the Rain. It was an outstanding show and we honor all of their hard work both behind the scenes and on stage!
Signing day for four GHS student athletes-congratulations!
New Parking Zones
We are excited to let you know that the City of Bozeman has recently opened on street parking on both sides of Flanders Mill Road. Please see the map below for new areas where students can park during the school day. New parking areas are indicated in yellow.

Important Attendance Reminders
Parent/Student Handbook contains: Parents should notify the attendance office to excuse a student’s absence. If verification is not received within five days of the absence, the absence will be recorded as unexcused for the remainder of the semester.
If a student needs to be excused for an appointment during the school day, parents should call the attendance office stating what time the student needs to be excused from class and what time the student will return."
If you need to pick up your child during the school day, text them the time they need to leave class to meet you, or you can also send a note. Students should show their teacher the text or note before class starts to let them know they need to leave class early.
Parents DO NOT need to come into the school building to check out your child. Please email the attendance line, ghs.attendance@bsd7.org, to notify GHS of the time you need them excused for.
Professional appointments (medical, dental, counseling, physical therapy, ect.):
Please ask the provider for a note showing name, date and time of appt. and have your child bring it to the attendance office when they return.
IF parent/guardians have excused their student to attend the appointment, and the medical note is turned in, the absence will be recorded as medical which does not count towards the 6 day absence limit.
The provider is also welcome to fax the note to 406-522-4622, or email to ghs.attendance@bsd7.org
Attendance Errors:
If your student was marked absent from a class and says they were there, have them talk with the teacher. If the teacher agrees an error was made, the teacher can contact the attendance office to make the correction. This correction needs to be made within 5 days.
Juniors and Seniors are allowed 3 days coded as College Visits each year which do not count towards the 6 day absence total. Approved documentation which can be turned in to the attendance office upon return include: Letter from admissions, confirmation of tour, letter from Coach, etc.
Extracurricular Activities outside of GHS: Thank you for excusing your student to participate in an Activity. Please have the Coach/Team Sponsor provide documentation of the Competition. We can then code with an Activity Excuse which does not count towards the 6 day absence limit.
How Parents Can Get Involved
GHS Parents Advisory Council (PAC)
IMPORTANT UPDATE: The PAC meeting this Tuesday, November 19 is moving to 5-6pm so as to not conflict with the winter sports meeting. The PAC meeting will be held, as usual, in the first floor of the GHS library. Our special guest, Lauren Dee, liaison of the Bozeman School Board, will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.
The officers of the GHS PAC hope you can attend this last meeting of 2024, but if you are unable, please visit GHS PAC Parent Resources. Highlights from all 2024 meetings, as well as the schedule for 2025 can be accessed there.
Please remember that there is no obligation to attend PAC meetings - come as often as you would like!
Please send any questions to GallatinHighPAC@gmail.com, or reach out to one of this year's officers.
