Summer Music Camps
Are you interested in playing over the summer? Below are just a few of the camps that students have gone to over the years and really enjoyed (and improved!). Contact Mr. Melrose or Ms. Lechner if you have questions:
UW Whitewater - Summer Music Camp (July 21 - 26)
Whitewater is not just a place; it’s a community. At Warhawk Band Camp, you will rehearse with talented college students, learn from recognized faculty and staff, play in state-of-the-art facilities, get a taste of the college experience, and create memories with new and old friends.

UW Madison - Summer Music Clinic (June 16 - 22)
We invite young musicians, music lovers and those who enjoy all forms of music and creativity for a week of music and memory-making on the UW–Madison campus. There is a creative artistic path for everyone! With sessions for both middle and high school students, Summer Music Clinic offers a wide variety of musical experiences - drumming, composing, dance, etc...

UW Platteville Pioneer Band Camp (July 7 - 13)
The UW-Platteville Pioneer Summer Band Camp has a long tradition of excellence in music instruction. The week-long camp offers exceptional opportunities for motivated students entering grades 7–12 to learn more about music. Students participate in one of two concert bands, faculty-led master classes, sectionals, and a wide range of course offerings. Optional private lessons are also available. In addition to performance, students enjoy recreational activities and other camp fun.
Summer Private Music Lessons
The music department is excited to be offering lessons during summer school! If you want to keep playing your instrument this summer and have personalized lessons, we would love to see you. These lessons are free of charge and are offered to any student who is currently in our 6th-8th grade band or orchestra program.
Here are some key details about the summer lessons program:
The lessons are taking place during Sun Prairie’s five-week summer school at Central Heights Middle School (June 17th-July 18th), but you do not need to be registered in summer school to have lessons.
To sign up for summer lessons, you will use the Google form at the bottom of this letter. Lessons are NOT part of the official district summer school registration, so you will not see a lesson sign-up in the district catalog.
If you are attending summer school, your lesson will be scheduled during the school day. You will be excused from one of your classes for part of the period to attend a lesson. You will have one lesson per week.
If you are not attending summer school, your 30-minute lesson will be scheduled for a time between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm (Monday through Thursday). The sign-up form allows you to specify what days and times work best for you. You must provide your own transportation to school for the lesson.
The lesson sign-up form will be available until May 13th. After May 13th, the music teachers will create the lesson schedule. We will contact you by June 7 to let you know the day and time of your lesson.
