October Family Newsletter Part 1
A Message from Principal Johnson
It was so exciting being able to celebrate students this past Friday for demonstrating respect throughout the month of September! In addition to these monthly celebrations, we will seek to honor and recognize students in a variety of ways!
We began the school year with family newsletters being sent monthly. Due to large amounts of information to include, I will send a family newsletter twice a month instead. I hope this helps. Teachers will continue to send weekly newsletters to parents.
Conferences are October 17th from 8:00am-7:00pm and October 18th from 8:00am-12:00pm. You will schedule your appointment through Skyward as you did for August conferences. There is no school on these conference days. Your partnership in helping to build your child's academic mastery and confidence is key so we look forward to seeing you in October!
If you ever have questions, concerns, or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Character Strong at MacArthur: Building Purposeful People
This month we are talking about responsibility. One way to define responsibility is “taking action and understanding the impact of our choices.” Taking action can mean doing the right thing or completing the tasks you have been assigned. Understanding the impact of our choices means that our actions matter. Positive and responsible actions can help people and irresponsible actions can hurt others.

HEARTS APART AT USD207
Fort Leavenworth Unified School District 207 offers a wonderful program we refer to as "Hearts Apart." Hearts Apart is designed to help students cope with the deployment of a parent. Your permission is required for your child to participate.
Hearts Apart provides students and families with a sense of community and belonging district wide. This is a great opportunity for spouses and their children to enjoy good food, relax, and enjoy the conversation and company of others. These events help children and their families understand that they are not alone in their experiences.
Sign up for Hearts Apart - Here
If you have any questions regarding Hearts Apart, please reach out to Michelle Speer, School Social Worker at mspeer@usd207.org or Kayla Njoku, MacArthur School Counselor at knjoku@usd207.org.
