No Homework Policy at Sprague
We would like to take a moment to share with you the rationale behind our school's no homework policy for young learners. We firmly believe that children, especially at the early stages of their education, thrive best when they are given time to engage in activities outside the classroom that foster creativity, curiosity, and social skills.
Research has shown that young children benefit more from unstructured play, physical activities, and family time than additional academic tasks at home. These experiences promote emotional well-being, build strong relationships, and help to develop a love for learning. By not assigning homework, we encourage our students to develop a sense of balance and time management without the stress and pressure that often comes with traditional homework assignments.
Yearbook Cover Contest
We are bringing back our yearbook cover art contest to provide an opportunity to include student work in the book! This year's yearbook theme is "Wild About Sprague!"
If your child would like to participate, they should create a vertical (up and down) design on an 8.5"x11" piece of white printer paper (not card stock and NOT ANY OTHER SIZE).
Please see past yearbook covers as shown here for examples.
We encourage you to have your child use LOTS of color to make their drawing pop! The design must include:
- The theme: Wild About Sprague!
- Our mascot: Stripes, the Sprague Wildcat (any version of a wildcat works, but this folder offers traditional clipart.)
- The words: Laura B. Sprague School
- The year: 2024-2025
- Student's first and last name
- Student's grade level (Kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade)
ALL ENTRIES ARE DUE BY THURSDAY, MARCH 6.
Please DO NOT FOLD your child's entry.
To turn in entries one of three ways:
- Please scan at 300 dpi and email to llenzini@d103.org. (Please make sure it shows all details and is clear enough to be placed in the yearbook.)
- Drop off at the Sprague School office.
- Mail your entries in a large envelope (unfolded) to Sprague School: Yearbook, 2425 Riverwoods Rd., Lincolnshire, IL 60069.
Please reach out to llenzini@d103.org with questions. Thank you!
Running Late for Morning Drop Off?
Park & Walk Child to Office
We realize that with the cancelled bus situation recently, the morning vehicular drop off line can get lengthy. We want to remind everyone of our drop off procedures.
Our staff has to be in their classrooms by 8:10 a.m. to prepare for the school day, and we simply do not have the staff capacity to supervise students after that time. If you are driving your child to school, please be aware that our staff will not be able to assist with drop off after 8:10 a.m. At that point, we ask that you park, walk your child into the office, and sign them in for the day.
Students will not be marked tardy, but we need parents to sign them in at the office so they are not marked absent by their teacher.
We also kindly ask that all parents respect the rules and follow the drop off procedures. Our staff is here to help, but we need everyone to be on the same page to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the school day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
