January Board Student of the Month
It gives me great pleasure to recognize Avery Blatter, an outstanding 4th-grade student at Overlook Elementary as January's Board Student of the Month. This is what Avery's 4th-grade teachers say: "Avery has truly excelled as a fourth grader this year. Her unwavering positivity and readiness to conquer challenges are truly commendable. She has embraced leadership roles by being elected as a fourth-grade student council representative, assisting preschoolers, and delivering morning announcements. Avery's willingness to support her peers and staff with a smile is truly admirable. We are immensely proud of Avery and grateful to have such a responsible and respectful student in our classrooms this year."
Avery starts her mornings modeling and demonstrating the Grizzly way of being Safe, Kind, and Responsible as she aids our preschool students…she loves our preschoolers!
Away from school, Avery enjoys spending time with friends and family. She especially enjoys playing games with her brother and with her dog Aurora. Her favorite food is chicken nuggets but she also enjoys Chipotle, Chik Fila, and going to Dave and Busters to play video games…hint..hint..mom and dad!
Avery shared her love for the beach, dipping her toes in the water and reading a book. Avery is also a swimmer and takes golf lessons.
Avery, you are a role model for your peers, and we are grateful to have you as part of our school community. Congratulations to Avery Blatter, Overlook Elementary's January Board Student of the Month.
February Board Student of the Month
It gives me great pleasure to recognize Hattie Slabaugh, an amazing 4th-grade student at Overlook Elementary, as February’s Board Student of the Month.
Hattie’s parents, Nick and Rachel Slabaugh, and sister CeCillia, a 6th grader at CIS, are here to honor her.
This is what Hatti’s 4th-grade teachers say:
Hattie is our board student of the month for so many reasons. She is a natural leader in the classroom often taking charge of group activities and effectively guiding her peers towards achieving common goals. She consistently demonstrates a helpful attitude towards her classmates readily offering assistance and support whenever needed. She is a responsible student who takes her commitments seriously, completing tasks on time, and taking pride in her work. Additionally, she exhibits a conscientious approach to her studies, always striving for accuracy and thoroughness in her assignments. Her creativity shines through in her contributions to classroom discussions and projects. We also appreciate her leadership in the building, as she is a member of our student council and helps with morning announcements. Hattie has taken an active role in helping tend to our Tower Garden this year. We are very proud of Hattie and the example that she sets for others. Thank you for being an Overlook rock star!”
Hatti’s favorite subject is art as she loves to draw and be creative. She is able to show that creativity by making bracelets with her sister. She has started to read the Harry Potter series because in her words “she wanted to see what all the hype was about.” Now, she is hooked!
Away from school she likes to play outside and is starting her 1st year in the sport of lacrosse. Her favorite vacation spot was a trip to Texas to see her cousins where she was able to spend some time at South Padre Island.
She enjoys pizza, bacon, Chick-fil-A, and Ramen noodles!
Hattie, thank you for your leadership in and outside of the classroom. We are grateful to have you as part of our school community. Congratulations, to Overlook Elementary's February Board Student of the Month, Hattie Slabaugh.

Classroom Guidance Lessons
Students have spent the month of February boosting their self-esteem and practicing kindness. Ask your child/children how they can increase their self-esteem.
