Greetings Team Bridgetown! This week we will be presenting our research topic slides to our classmates with a gallery walk presentation. Students who were not finished on Friday were asked to complete it at home over the weekend. After presentations, we will begin learning how to do a research simulation essay and practicing with topic related texts. At the end of the week, we will be starting our new book.
New Book Alert! We will be starting “Inside Out & Back Again” by Thanhha Lai. Students who wish to have their own copy of the book should bring it in by February 24
Science - Ms. Banson
Hello Team Bridgetown!
This week, students explored different scientific models of the solar system, comparing and contrasting them to see how advancements in technology have shaped our understanding of astronomy. They also learned about key figures who contributed to the development of the heliocentric model.
Next week, students will dive into the true scale of our solar system through a hands-on scale modeling activity. They'll also investigate how Earth's axial tilt creates seasons. Additionally, they will complete their RCT (completion grade), which serves as a preview of our next unit: Oceans, Atmosphere, and Climate. This assessment will help me identify strengths and areas for growth to better tailor our next lessons.
Our root words for next week (Roots 3.5) are:
neo = new (e.g., neonatal, neophyte, neoclassicism)
dyn = power/energy (e.g., dynamic, dynamite, dynasty)
div = to separate (e.g., division, divide)
mis = wrong (e.g., mistake, miscalculate, misuse)
retro = back/again (e.g., retrofit, retroactive)
Keepers: angle, deci, semi, alp, morph, sed, gram, hydro, iso, aqua, cirrus, photo.

Hello Team Bridgetown!
We have an exciting week, finishing our East Asia/Population Growth unit. On Monday, we will take a formative on Canvas to show the skills we built in class on analyzing political cartoons.
Starting on Thursday, we will take our large unit summative covering ALL of the topics we’ve been studying in class.
The only homework we should have is over the previous weekend (2/21-23) to study for these summatives and formatives.
ELA Resource - Ms. White
Greetings! This past week students completed their Summative Essay about the 2 texts “Eleven” and “The Scholarship Jacket” to compare and contrast the characters as well as the conflicts between the 2 stories. They also began a research project about Vietnam in preparation for our last text of the school year entitled “Inside Out & Back Again”. Next week we will complete our research projects to attain background knowledge for our new text and complete 3 mini lessons regarding how to properly research and cite sources, how to read informational text and an introduction to poetry. Lastly, we will be taking a trip to the library to select a book for our next Book Project, which will be due in April.
