Dear Hayshire Families,

Spring is here! It’s hard to believe how quickly the school year is flying by. We are so proud of all the progress our students have made so far. There's a lot more learning and fun to be had!

Friday, March 21 is a big day for Hayshire Elementary and the Central York community! During the day, Hayshire will celebrate the success of our Read-A-Thon with a PTO sponsored Glow Party! The Central York Education Association’s Battle of the Buildings will begin at 7:00 PM. Teacher teams from each building will battle it out with juniors and seniors through a variety of crazy events and games. The goal is to raise scholarship funds for students pursuing careers in education. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Come and cheer for our Hayshire teachers and The Primary Powerhouse! This week was the kickoff of our C.A.R.E.S. initiative at Hayshire! C.A.R.E.S. is a part of the Responsive Classroom approach to teaching. The hope is to ensure our classrooms are joyful and engaging learning communities. Each week, we will have a new C.A.R.E.S. focus.

Responsibility: Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching
Empathy: Taking care of others
Self-Control: Taking care of your body and words

Our kindergarten friends visited York County Solid Waste Authority and learned about the waste-to-energy process. Kindergarten learned about the technology that not only reduces the county's garbage to a small volume of ash, but also recycles it into electricity!

Let the good times roll! The Hayshire Skating Party is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. All are invited to spend an evening with family and friends at Roll 'R' Way Family Skating Center at 940 Vander Avenue. Admission is free! Please see the flyer below for more details.

Just a reminder that Friday, March 28 is an early dismissal day. Elementary students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM.

Save The Date!

The Hayshire Art Show is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 from 6:00-7:30 pm. All students will have a piece on display. Third graders have the special privilege of framing their artwork for the show! All participants will have an opportunity to create in our Maker Station!

Third Grade PSSA

This year, our third graders will take the ELA and Math PSSA. ELA will take place on April 23, 24, and 25. The Math portion will take place on April 29 and 30. On Thursday, PSSA letters were sent home with our third graders. Third graders and families are welcome to sign up to attend a fun and informative evening event on Wednesday, April 2 at 6 PM.

2025-2026 Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten Registration is now open for the 2025/2026 school year. We are excited to welcome upcoming Kindergartner to our Panther Family. Per District Policy, students must be five years of age on or before August 31, 2025 to be enrolled for Kindergarten. Kindergarten Registration will take place at Hayshire Elementary on Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15. You will select a 30 minute time slot. Your child should attend with you that day!
