News & Notes
Attendance Matters
Students can’t learn if they aren’t in school - attending school everyday matters. Missing just two days each month means a student is missing 10% of the school year! That means they are chronically absent and are missing important lessons and work, putting students behind. Attend today - achieve tomorrow!

Spreading Kindness at School
Every January, schools across our District celebrate the importance of being kind during the Great Kindness Challenge. Students showcased kindness by sharing smiles through special-themed days focusing on fun and how being kind impacts others. Let’s continue to build a climate of kindness across ABC!

New COVID-19 Protocols
The Los Angeles County of Public Health, following guidance from the California Department of Public Health, has updated its COVID-19 isolation protocols. Those with COVID-19 symptoms or who have tested positive for COVID-19 should report the case to the child’s school, then:
With Symptoms: Those with symptoms should stay home and away from others until fever free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications AND other symptoms are mild and improving. Wear a well-fitting, high-quality respiratory mask for ten days from when the symptoms began or a positive test when around others.
Ending Isolation: Isolation may end when your child is fever-free for 24 hours without taking medicine that lowers fever, AND symptoms are mild, improving, or there are no symptoms.
Without Symptoms: Those who have tested positive but do not have symptoms do not need to isolate but must wear a well-fitting, high-quality respiratory mask for ten days from when symptoms began or a positive test when around others. Mask-wearing can end sooner if two negative test results are gathered at least one day apart.
Those exposed to someone with COVID-19 may come to school as long as they don’t have symptoms, but should:
Wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask indoors when around others for ten days after the exposure.
Test for COVID-19 between the third and fifth day after exposure.
Monitor symptoms for ten days after exposure.
If symptoms develop, test for COVID-19 and follow the isolation guidelines above.
More information can be found on the Los Angels County of Public Health COVID-19 website.
