Food Pantry Friday has begun! This week please send in breakfast items (granola bars, breakfast bars, juice boxes, etc.)

Byrd Parent Group (BPG)

The Byrd Parent Group, or BPG, is made up of many parents, grandparents, and caregivers who work together to support the best educational environment possible for our kids. We know life is hectic, so this supportive group understands that we all do what we can! There is no obligation to attend meetings or sign up for events. There is no fee to join! We hope you will consider joining the BPG.

If you are interested in getting involved with the BPG and supporting the school experience for our kids, then please join the BPG by completing the Google Form on THIS LINK!

Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 7th in the library from 6:30-8. If you cannot join us in person, then we would love to have you join virtually (link to be published soon)!

Backpacks of Love Program

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Backpacks of Love, Inc. is a local charity that was formed to provide food for school children over the weekend. Children who are in need of such food will receive a small bag of food & snacks on the last day of the school week. The food exchange will be handled in a discreet manner with only the school counselor, teacher & child aware of what is occurring. Backpacks of Love has been providing food for families since 2011 & is expanding to accept more families. We want everyone that needs food bags to receive them. Because the food is limited, please do not request the bags unless there is a true need. Let the school know if circumstances change. Linked below is the permission form that will need to be filled out and turned in to Mrs. Jackson, your school counselor. This form was also sent home in your child's take home folder or bookbag.

Byrd Spirit Night at the Goochland Home Football Game

If you've never experienced the Goochland Friday Night Lights at our high school football games, then THIS Friday is a great time for you to give it a try! This Friday is a home football game, and it is Byrd Spirit Night! Wear your Byrd spirit wear, and we will get a special shoutout over the PA. There are delicious concessions, a fabulous marching band, exciting football action, and fun for the whole family! Kick-off is at 7pm.

September is ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH! To celebrate, we are starting a school-wide attendance contest and having an Attendance Spirit Week this month!

Helpful Links & Info

Please notify the office about transportation changes via email at beseagles@glnd.k12.va.us. If you have daily transportation needs, please make sure you provide changes at the beginning of each week for the entire week. Please make sure you have all transportation changes in prior to 1:00 PM, this allows staff time to communicate all necessary changes and avoids confusion when a call is not received. We appreciate your support.

Parents who wish to chaperone a field trip or volunteer regularly in our school must submit to a background check every 2 years using the BIB portal. The process is completely electronic. If you are having problems with the system, contact Demetra Harris at dharris@glnd.k12.va.us.
