ACADEMY ADVENTURES MIDTOWN
BUILDING ON STRENGTHS & FILLING BUCKETS!

We have less than two (2) months left of the 2024-2025 school year! This year has gone by super fast and without a doubt the last two months will fly by even faster!
April is a busy month for the students in grades 3-5. Upper elementary students will be taking their standardized testing in Writing, Math & Reading. It is of the utmost importance that the students are here on the testing days AND arrive on time. Please read the helpful hints below under State Testing to help your child be successful.
We will be taking our last field trip to the Cascades of Tucson Retirement and Assisted Living Community this month. They have a very special event planned for our students that they are going to love! Cascades will also be serving us snacks and lunch! This has been a very rewarding partnership for the school, students and the residents at the Cascades. They love when the students come to visit! This has been a great way to focus on community involvement. Thank you to our parents for your support!
Thank you to all our families for your continued support. We appreciate all you do and allowing Academy Adventures Midtown the opportunity to teach your child(ren). We have an amazing group of students and are very proud of all their successes throughout the school year.
ROCKING THE TEST!
It is that time of year when the students in grades 3-5 take their state standardized tests in Science (5th Grade Only), Writing, Math & Reading. Our students have been preparing for the tests with practice tests and curriculum review. Testing is a stressful time for students. Here are a few ways you can help your child be less anxious and stressed over testing.
- Make sure your child is on a schedule and gets plenty of sleep the night before.
- Have your child eat a healthy breakfast or get them to school by 8:00 AM for breakfast.
- Have your child get their clothes and belongings ready the night before so they are not stressed running around trying to get ready.
- Talk to your child about doing their best and taking the test seriously.
- When you drop off your child, give them encouragement and positive words before leaving.
- ARRIVING TO SCHOOL ON TIME! Do not show up late on testing days. No child likes to have to make up the tests.
Miss Denise will give the students a pep talk before the tests begin and remind them of good test taking strategies to help them. Students also will receive special treats while testing to help encourage them!
If you have any questions on testing, please speak with Miss Denise or Mrs. Angela. We appreciate your support of your child(ren)!
🕞AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM ENDS AT 4:30🕞
As a reminder, the After-School Program now ends at 4:30 PM. All students must be picked up on or before 4:30 PM. This will be the time through the rest of the school year.
If there are any changes, we will make sure to give you as much notice as possible.
😀THANK YOU FAMILIES!😀
Thank you to all of our families who were able to join us on Thursday, March 13, 2025, for a special lunch and presentation from our students. The students did a great job of presenting their poems to their families. We hope that you enjoyed the presentation as much as we did!
We appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to come and support your child(ren). We love our families and really enjoy when we can have you join us for special activities.
As part of the National School Lunch Program, we have specific requirements we have to follow.
Below are a few reminders:
- All students qualify for Free Breakfast and Lunch
- If a child brings their own breakfast or lunch, they will not receive a school breakfast or lunch
- If your child brings their own breakfast or lunch, please make sure to follow the guidelines below:
- No Fast Food is permitted (such as, but not limited to, Taco Bell, Burger King, Eegees, etc.)
- No cookies, candy, cake, juice/soda (unless juice is 100% juice), potato chips, corn chips, donuts, etc.
- We cannot refrigerate or heat up food brought from home
Please Note: If your child has a food allergy or intolerance, we will need the NSLP forms completed by your child's physician before we can make accommodations. If your child is eating a specific diet that is not due to medical reasons, we recommend that you send food with them. Students without a medical form on file will receive the same balanced, nutritious NSLP approved tray as the other children. Although we encourage the children to eat all of their food, they are not required to do so (unless they are requesting seconds).
If you have any questions regarding breakfast or lunch, please contact Mrs. Angela.
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
Core instruction (Math, Reading & Language Arts) is done first thing in the morning. If your child arrives late, they are missing very important academic instruction. Missing the direct core instruction from the teacher causes students to get behind and feel lost and/or frustrated. It is very important to arrive at school BEFORE 8:15 AM.
Tardies are on the rise. Attendance is crucial to your child's academic success. Your child arriving on time, makes a difference on how their day goes. When a child is late, it not only throws off their day, but it also is a disruption to all the children who are in the class learning. Please make a conscious effort to have your children at school by 8:15 AM (8:00 AM if they are going to eat breakfast).
Pre-Registration for the 2025-2026 School Year is underway! If your child will (or will not) be returning, please be sure to return the Re-Registration forms. If you are unsure, or have concerns please communicate that with Mrs. Angela. It is important that we have an idea what enrollment will be for planning purposes.
If you have any questions regarding the program, please speak with Mrs. Angela or Miss Denise. Thank you for your continued support!
Dear Families,
As we step into another exciting month, I want to extend a warm greeting to each of you. Your continued support and partnership are invaluable to our school community, and we are grateful for the role you play in your child's education.
Important Announcements:
Rest and Punctuality: Please remind your child of the importance of getting plenty of rest each night. A well-rested student is an academic learner ready to excel!
Attendance Matters: Being on time and present at school each day is essential for their success.
State Testing: Our Upper Elementary students (3rd - 5th grade) will begin state testing in the first week of April. It’s crucial for them to get enough sleep and eat breakfast, whether at home or school, to perform their best throughout the month.
Learning continues in all academic areas, and we encourage you to support your child's education at home. Here are some helpful suggestions:
Reading Together: For younger students, reading together is a great way to enhance comprehension. Ask questions about the story, such as who, what, where, when, and why, and encourage them to make predictions about what might happen next.
Board Games and Card Games: Playing games like Scrabble can improve spelling and vocabulary, while card games can strengthen math skills.
Upcoming Event: We are excited to announce that we will be visiting Cascades next month for lunch and Karaoke! It will be a fun-filled day for our students.
Character Trait for April: This month, we are focusing on perseverance. Students are learning about the power of "yet," which ties beautifully into our theme of resilience. I wanted to share a quote that embodies the spirit of perseverance: "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." Let's encourage our students to embrace challenges and keep pushing forward. Your partnership in this journey is invaluable.
Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a wonderful place for learning. Together, we can continue to foster a positive environment where our students thrive. We look forward to collaborating with you in the coming weeks!
IMPORTANT DATES!
Family Involvement is an important part of our school! Below are a few opportunities for you to participate. You are also welcome to come by anytime to observe or have lunch with your child. Please make sure to sign in and out.
- FAMILY EVENT
- April 18th @ 10:00 AM
As a reminder, please make sure that your cell phone is turned off when you are on campus. Cell phones are not allowed in the school / classroom, around the lunch/breakfast area or on the playground. Focus when on campus is on the students!
📱ARE YOUR NOTIFICATIONS ON??📱
It is essential that all families are getting Class Dojo Notifications. This is the NUMBER 1 way we communicate with families and the fastest way we can get emergency information out to you. Please make sure you have notifications turned on. Sending a message through Class Dojo is also the quickest way to get a response from Miss Denise or Mrs. Angela.
If you have any issues with Class Dojo, please contact the school. Please note, you are NOT required to pay for Class Dojo. We only use the free portion. The paid version is optional and not required.
Per the Student Family Handbook that was given to you at enrollment, students who are sick are required to stay home 48 hours with no symptoms, unless you obtain a note from a doctor saying it is safe for them to return to school. If your child is complaining of not feeling well and/or appears to be exhibiting excessive coughing, running noses, stomach issues, etc. you will be called to pick them up. The 48 hours with no symptoms applies.
We continue to keep your child(ren)'s safety a priority. Cameras are up outside around the building and the front door and gates remain locked during the school hours, unless there is a staff member monitoring them (i.e. before/after school).
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the health and safety practices of the school, please do not hesitate to speak with Mrs. Angela.
BUILDING CONFIDENT LEARNERS!
Academy Adventures Midtown is passionate about supporting academic and emotional growth in each child. Cloud9 World provides many skills to help our students deal with every day situations occurring in their lives at school or at home. We have seen an increase in our students confidence and how they interact with one another. We will continue to build positive learning behaviors and an environment that fosters student well-being. There are resources for parents as well! We will continue to share the monthly strength resources in the newsletter. If you have any questions, please reach out to Miss Denise.
During the month of April, students will focus on Perseverance. According to Cloud9 World,
perseverance is being committed in your heart and persistent in your effort. You commit to your goals and overcome obstacles, no matter how long it takes. Like a strong ship in a storm that doesn’t let wind blow it off course. You ride with the current instead. When the going gets rough and you figure out a way to hang in there and reach your goals, you are showing perseverance.
The beaver represents the importance of setting goals, the value of hard work, and the rewards of perseverance.
In March, students focused on Confidence. According to Cloud9 World, confidence is trusting that you have what it takes to handle whatever happens. You feel sure of yourself and enjoy trying new things without letting doubt or fear hold you back. When you have faith in yourself you are a confident person.
The horse represents the power of self-confidence, the reward of dedication, and the importance of believing in yourself.
Below are some resources that you can use at home with your child in both English & Spanish.
