Your child's classroom teacher will reach out with more information.
*Reminder, if you do not want your child to participate in any of the holiday activities reach out to your child's teacher to let them know.
GRAVES WINTER SPIRIT WEEK
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
The winter weather is here and it is getting colder. Students will continue going out for recess and arrival and dismissal every day . Please make sure that your child wears appropriate sweater/jacket to school.
Per Illinois State Guidelines
- if the REAL FEEL is 32 degrees or higher, students will have OUTDOOR RECESS.
- if the REAL FEEL is 31 degrees or lower, students will have INDOOR RECESS.
Note from the Nurses' Department
Germ season is in full swing! Washing your hands is the most effective way to prevent the spread of germs!
Please remember per district 104 handbook: students are NOT allowed to carry ANY medication (this includes any over-the-counter medication such cough drops, Tylenol, and Motrin). If your student needs medication administered during the school day (including cough drops, Tylenol, or Motrin), medication must be kept in the Health Office and medication authorization forms must be signed by the parent/guardian AND a medical provider (Doctor, PA, APRN).

Treats & Snacks Policy
We ask that parents do not send in birthday treats for students to distribute. Please read below, as taken from the 2023-2024 District 104 Handbook:
Treats & Snacks [PreK-5] 1.80 Due to health concerns and scheduling, no birthday treats are allowed. Treats will be limited to certain school-wide celebrations.
Graves PBIS Grade Level Events
Our students had their third PBIS Grade Level Events on Friday, November 22nd for great behavior and following the school-wide expectation:

1st Grade: Minute to Win It Games
2nd Grade: Slime Making
3rd Grade: Turkey Art Crafts
4th Grade: Ice Cream Social
5th Grade: Free Gym Time

School-Wide Expectation for the Month of January:

*As a reminder, students with 2 or more MINOR REFERRALS and/or 1 MAJOR REFERRAL will not be able to participate and will reflect on their behavioral referrals.
SD 104 Band Program: Breakfast with Santa
Please come out to Heritage Middle School and support the District 104 Band Program at the annual Breakfast with Santa on Sunday December 15th from 8:30 to 11:30. This event will feature an all you can eat pancake breakfast, performances by the band students, raffle prizes, and pictures with Santa and the Grinch! Student, Child, and Senior Tickets are 5 dollars, and Adult Tickets are 8 dollars. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the Graves Elementary Office or you can buy them at the door on December 15th. All are welcome and all proceeds go towards supporting music in District 104! This is an event you will not want to miss!
