SLPHS families,
The summer has flown by, and the new school year is just around the corner! I am excited to meet and greet new and returning students and families at our Open House event on August 27. Please read this update thoroughly for important information for the start of the year and keep an eye out for weekly school communication each Wednesday during the school year and starting now.
The first day of school for our incoming 9th graders and any new students is Tuesday, September 3. This is an orientation day. The first day of school for all returning 10th-12th graders is Wednesday, September 4.
Find schedules and get ready
Final student schedules for the first trimester will be available on Student Campus Portal beginning August 26.

Meet teachers and visit the building – August 27
We hope your student(s) and family can come by and visit the building before the first day of school. We will host an open house for all grade levels on Tuesday, August 27, 3-7 p.m. Our teachers will be available in their classrooms during the times listed for the students they teach. We are inviting families at different times based on the grade-level of the student:
- Families with 10th – 12th grade students should come 3-5 p.m.
- Families with 9th grade students should come 5–7 p.m.
Students transitioning from 8th grade at Westwood Middle School should bring their current Spring Lake Park Schools’ school-issued iPad, case and charger. Incoming 9th graders will exchange these for a new iPad and accessories. Any students new to the district will be able to pick up their school-issued iPad, case and charger during the Open House.
All students are invited to:
- Review your class schedule
- Meet teachers
- Walk your schedule and see your classrooms
- Have your school photo taken
- Turn in required forms
- Learn about getting involved in activities and athletics
If you are unable to attend an open house and have questions about schedules, please reach out to your counselor. Not sure who your counselor is? On the Spring Lake Park High School website, find counselors listed under the Student Life menu and Counseling Office.
Getting to and from school
If your student rides the bus, information about bus stop, pick up and drop off times is expected to be mailed to homes the week of August 19. Please plan for your student to ride the bus on the first day of school to help us work out all our routines and eliminate as much confusion as possible.
For families who drive their student, please drop off and pick up at the main entrance (Door #1). Cars are not allowed in the bus loading area.
