Congratulations to the 69 South Students receiving a 3.5 GPA or higher that were inducted into the National Honor Society Monday evening!
A big shout out to Katie Barbor, the advisor, for all her guidance and leadership for these young adults. We look forward to the many accomplishments they will achieve both as a Blue Devil and beyond!
GPPSS hosts a Quiz Bowl Tournament
GPPSS hosted a Quiz Bowl Tournament on Saturday, November 16th. This was the first tournament ever hosted by the district and was done collaboratively with North and South’s Quiz Bowl Teams. The event provided an opportunity for thirteen teams from across Michigan to compete at South. It was a great success and couldn’t have gone as seamlessly as it did without the volunteers which included parents, NHS students, teachers, coaches, and Quiz Bowl team members. The coaches look forward to hosting the tournament again in 2025 and plan to have it at North!
Thanksgiving at Monteith
Miss Bee's class celebrated Thanksgiving, each other, and Kindergarten Feast style before they headed off to break! They learned about what it means to give thanks, why we feast, and the first settlers.
Fall Fundraising at Richard
Because of the hard work of their kids, PTO and community as a whole, Richard was able to CRUSH their Fall fundraising goal at their Halloween Costume Fun Run! The money raised will go toward a lot of things around Richard, including computers, field trips, assemblies, playground equipment, classroom supplies, and extension materials that will provide their students with experiences that deepen learning and build relationships. To celebrate, the whole school took part in turning Dr. Kernan into a Human Sundae!
Tape your Principal to the Wall at South
Congratulations to the South Student Association for talking South Principal, Mr. Hamka into participating in the "Tape your Principal to the Wall" fundraiser as part of the GPPSS Charity Week and Adopt a Family program. The fundraiser brought in over $140 from the school students, staff and administrators! This fundraiser was in combination of other entertaining school-wide opportunities to raise money. This program is being led by Student Chairs: Elle Petz, Elle Brennan, Grace Vollmer and Delaney Meyers and SA Advisor: Meg Pierce.
Cougar Dens at Kerby
The Kerby students recently gathered in their mixed-age Cougar Dens, where they traveled to their Den Leaders’ rooms to explore the themes of kindness and empathy. Together, they brainstormed ideas for acts of kindness, which they wrote on paper hearts to be added to an all-school bulletin board celebrating compassion. Cougar Dens will meet monthly throughout the year, fostering a sense of community and focusing on different growth mindsets to inspire and connect the entire school.
Alumni visits Former Teacher
A former GPPSS student, who now works for the district as a HVAC tech, visited his former teacher, Mr. Benz, to speak with his students about working in the trades.

Calling all graduates!
